Christ's Wounds

I was meditating on the sorrowfull mysteries today and looked at christ on the cross and was trying to figure out which hurt the worst. I mean they All hurt more than any human could possibly imagine. So let me list them and give me your feed back. Please no one take this the wrong way, I was just curiouse if any body else wadered the same thing. It also makes you think.

1. The Scourging- This I think would be unberable but others did go through it to and lived but that was alot hits on christ with a cat of nine tails. and if they had 2-4 people hitting him in routine, definatly high on the pain scale.

2. The Crowning of Thorns- Supposedly the crown of Thorns was not an actual crown like pictures present but literally a crown that was like a basket turned upside down that engulfed his head. This would be incredibly painfull. Those large thorns tearing at his sking not to mention that they would of penetrated through in many spots. Supposdly three thorns went through his temples and onther part of his head that would kill any other human almost instantly. And head wounds bleed the worst.

3. Carrying of the Cross- Ok not to mention he's been whipped and those cuts being dryed and opened again, he's sweating so salt's going to get in those wounds. The same with the crown of thorns the wood always hitting his head, but the only thing between his head and the wood is that crown of thorns. So that constant digging in of the thorns. But also his shoulder. Supposedly the cross made a gash in his shoulder that went all the way down to the bone in his shoulder. With him falling and the constant pushing of the shoulders. This wouldn't even be on the pain scale it's far to high that it leaps off.

4. The Crucifiction- Ok You got large nail going into your palm. OUCH, have any of you tried pushing down on your palms really hard. It hurts. Some people say that it went through his rist though. Either way there both incredibly painfull. But the most painfull I would thing would be his feet. HIS FEET think about it how the heck do you get a nail to go through both your feet then be hanging their only being held with by those nails.

When I say the sorrowfull mysterys those are the things I think of and feel so incredibly sorry for what I have done. I don't feel worthy for him to love me, but the great thing he still does and try to live my life for him so I can see him when I go to heaven. He wants us all to be with him, So I will try my hardest.

Tell what you guys think.

Blessings

I often also think of his knees. Christ fell three times on the way to Calvery. And it wasn't a soft paved road. Imagine all the gravel and rocks embedded in his caps. Then being forced up to walk.

For the sake of His Sorriful Passion, have mercy on us and an the whole world.

Actually, they would all have hurt immensly because of the physical state of his body. In the garden at Gethsemane, he sweated blood. This is an actually medical condition that happens to people under extreme physcial, emotional, and or psychological stress. It causes the capillaries around the sweat glands to burst, causing one to sweat blood. This makes the skin EXTREMELY sensitive, so that everything hurts.

Then, he was taken to be scourged. He was probably rather manhandled, and remember, all that pushing and shoving hurt worse because of what I mentioned above. He was stripped (at least to the waist) and scourged, probably with a cat-of-nine-tails or a leather strap that divided at the end to many ends. After He was scourged, he was dressed in purple and the crown of thorns was put on His head. This crown was quite possibly not meant for physical pain, but rather to mock Him as King of the Jews. The thorns would have been long to mimic that of a king's crown though, so they would have hurt His already sensitive head. Then, he was beat some more with a reed.

At this point the purple clothing was taken from Him and He was dressed in His own clothing. However, when the cloak would have been stuck to the wounds on His back, so when they ripped it off they would have reopened every one of them. He was then forced to carry the heavy cross on His shoulders as He walked to Golgotha. His shoulders would be very sensative to the painful weight, and His body would be sore and tired from the amount of blood it had already lost. Every step would have been agonizing. Falling under the weight of the cross would have felt like a crushing blow. He would have been whipped to keep going.

Finally, He would reach Golgotha. His clothing was then stripped off of Him. As with the cloak, His clothing would have been blood-soaked and would have stuck to the wounds, so removing it would have reopened the wounds yet again. He would have then been nailed through either the palm or the wrist (He could have been nailed through the palms if they had tied ropes around the upper arms to help support Him). As He hung on the cross, His entire weight would have been supported by the nails (and possibly ropes). In addition, His rib cage would have been stretched, making breathing difficult. He would have to push against the nail in His feet and pull against the ones in His hand to get Himself in position to breath. This painful act would have to be done every time He wanted to breathe. Speaking from the cross, which we know He did, would have required even more air, involving more painfull pulling/pushing against the nails. This went on for hours. His arms and legs would get weak from constantly having to support Himself to breathe. Breaths would become fewer, farther between, and more painful. Fluid would surrounded His lungs (a biological side-effect of stress which we know happened by the water that flowed from His side when it was pierced by the lance). His death would have been a combination of extreme stress, loss of blood, and suffication at once. The fact that He spoke right before He died shows the miraculous nature of Jesus; no body should have been able at that point in a crucifixion to draw enough air to speak.

That is the excruciating death of Jesus; the death that He suffered willingly, a death that He could have avoided, a death that He died FOR US. Even more painful, in my opinion, would be the emotional and psychological pains He would feel. He was perfect. , He was God, yet He became sin, became a curse. He did it for people who would desert Him, for people who mock Him, for sinners. He did it for us.

i think that naming a single episode skews the greater picture that He took ALL of them in less than 12 hours for us all!

i think that if every day, i was put through just one of his tortures in it's chronological order, w/ time to "heal" over night, i don't think i'd live to be crucified...

If the actual Scourging at the Pillar was anything like the trailer for The Passion, I don't think I could have lasted through that let alone all the stuff that followed.

And seeing your mom below agonizing. How painful! It must have hurt him his whole life to know that his mother would have to watch him die.

Lord have mercy on me, a poor sinner.

If I based my opinion on Gibson's new movie, which is suppose to be based somewhat on the visions of future saint Anne Catherine Emmerich, I'd have to say the scourging was the most painful and agonizing. By the time Christ is finally crucified, I imagine his body had already gone through so much, numbness had to have been setting in.
