Theologian in Training
So, wait, you had first communions on Saturday? My pastor has been pushing for that, but, of course, the staff is opposed..

There were five First Communion masses-- 11 am and 1 pm on Sat., 1 pm on Sun. on the first weekend.... 1 pm Sat., and 1 pm Sun. the following weekend. Why is the staff opposed? [/quote] Because they don't like priests and are secretly angry because they can never be one (ahh the joys of an all-women staff...our staff meeting went from 9:30 this morning until 2:00 this afternoon) so much anti-clericalism and negativity too. The other reason is because they don't feel as though those receiving first communions are part of the "community" when they receive first communion during a separate Mass... homeschoolmom
Hoo boy. Silly. I could see if you had a very small parish with only a handful of First Communicants it might make sense to have First Communion during a regular mass.... But I bet if you asked any eight year old if he "felt part of the community" or not, he would look at you like this You should suggest that from now on, all weddings be done during regular masses... so that the bride feels "part of the community." (because you know how much brides hate to draw attention to themselves )

homeschoolmom
Also, another nice thing about having a Saturday mass was that my son was excited to receive his second communion the next day.
