Look, let me live in my little fantasy land of death bed conversion. Either way, he made a confession, and I'm pretty sure when he got to see Jesus he recognized him and had all the repentance he needed to get into il Purgatorio.

You do know that Oscar Wilde died a repenant Catholic.  He had a priest come hours before his death and hear his last confession.

This death bed conversion (which are my favorite types of conversions) led to the eventual non-death bed (read: boring) conversion of his lover.

Oscar Wilde is truly a genius.  He has a knack for pointing out all the vices in "acceptable" society and overlooking all the vices among the more vulgar crowds.

He's my kind of writer.

no that post was totally for you pal, i read the book already and it was ok, but that is expected from my 'liberal tendencies.' and as the suspected resident liberal of pmass I commend your choice of reading

oh and the crappy "he died a repentant Catholic" justification defense doesn't work buddy because he was doped up on opium and in all sorts of premiscuos relationships when he wrote that book.

aren't your kind more likely to support covering up vices, sweeping things uder the rug?

he was in three relationships when he wrote that book Bosy, poor Mrs. Wilde, and Winston Churchill's father-in-law.

First of all. He died having had confession. Many people with much more research than I, will lay claim to Oscar Wilde as a Catholic. I like Hyper's little red candle idea, but not for Oscar Wilde . . . I have a better one in mind. (By the way, if it's a private devtion, why are you telling us Hyper???)

Oh, and M.Sigga I've got more surprises than book choices up my sleeve. Don't forget, I'm a republican, but I'm a Catholic first. A real one, not a protestant one. And just like you can pull the lever for Bobby Jindal, I can secretly indulge in the vices of, ahem, "others" . . . never my own vices, I AM a REPUBLICAN after all . . .

I'm reading the Picture of Dorian Gray. It's a book I've pretended to have read for years, and am finally getting around to it.

hmmm...i'm thinking if you like it i might have to pick this up...

I also have a private devotion to the Last Romanov Rulers of Russia, dozens of Eastern Orthodox Saints, and Our Lady of Medjugorje...Private does not mean private...as in not to be spoken of...it means private as in not Church approved...Fatima was a private Devotion until the Church said otherwise...I'm telling for the same reason that whenever Nicky and Alex are mentioned I mention my devotion to them. No one has to like my red candle for Mr Wilde, I really don't care if anyone likes it. His prayers have profitted me greatly and beg I beg him for more. Selah!

Ok Hyper, deep breath, say it with me . . . "BLAZEr is not why I'm angry."

Thanks! ;)
