jckinsman
An art exhibit is coming,or has come to seattle. It is called "The Human Body",Basically a bunch of Dead people sliced up and displayed for the world to see. I imagine well perserved. I had breifly, heard awhile back, on catholic radio that there was controversy in the church about this display. Has anyone heard anything?? A freind of mine's wife had bought tickets to it and I told him what I had heard on the radio...............so I thought this would be a good place to come..................anyone?????? Guest T-Bone
I think this has been discussed here before. Someone who is less lazy than me might want to look for it.

MissScripture
Yeah, I think we discussed this when it was in MN, but I think that might've been on Open Mic, so if you don't find it on the debate table, look there.
aalpha1989
My parents kinda wanted to see it while it was in Minnesota......we were there for St. Thomas at the time. I had a funny feeling about it...didn't know if it was good or not, so I didn't go see it....

N/A Gone
I actually spent sometime looking for this. here is what I wrote
[u]sweet..I disagree with the most of you. As someone who, if it wasnt for ministry, almost went to school for Diagnostics(*painfully ironic considering I am sarcastic and use a cane) and having a wife that is an exercise physiologist we actually went to this exhibit on the FIRST day of our honeymoon.. why? because it was not an art thing to us. it is at the bloody science muesium. It has the intention of being educational, but you know what else? it is incredbility bias in the fact that it shows the effects to the body from things like smoking. So a kid who does see this will literally see the damage caused. The exhibit is highly respectful giving the story of the body as well as numerous quotes from many philosophers including some of our church fathers. Of course some could pervert this can consider it an art display. But that was not the motive of the people involved or the angle the muesium took. Unless you are in a med program chances are you will never see a body like this. Never get a chance to see how amazing a creator we have. This gave the average Joe a chance to do this. jeffpugh
I personally had a chance to see a display at the science centre in Toronto. I didn't go 'cause I don't really think I'd react to such exposed inner-flesh very well. Not to mention that these bodies were people that were familiar to others at one point. It's almost sad. In saying that, I do believe our bodies are complex and reflect the genius of the creator. I personally could not play a bunch of money to run out of the room sick... that's all... xTrishaxLynnx
I had a chance to go to one of these with my Anatomy & Physiology class. I think it was in Boston. I don't think I'd have been able to handle it had I gone.
MissScripture
I actually spent sometime looking for this. here is what I wrote http://www.phatmass.com/phorum/index.php?s...cience&st=0
Your wife is an exercise physiologist? COOL! My major is exercise science; after which I'll most likely be going into physical therapy. I have to say I agree with you about the exhibit. I didn't get a chance to go, but the biology dept. here said that you could learn more in a day there than in the 2 semesters we have to take of anatomy. N/A Gone
My wife and I both seriously considered pre-med. Her for recovery plastics (kid burns face, she fixes, etc. ) and I was going for diagnostics with infectious disease or genetics. The plans did not seem right for various reasons. First I felt a calling into ministry, and she was not sure if she could handle the internship. She decided to go to UWLAX for Exercise phys, then she transfered and is finishing her RN and then she is getting her masters in Cardiac Rehab. Probably going to work in research due to her high research scores. ok, sorry for the hijack.
Red Knight
I saw Body Worlds when it was in Minnesota. it was phenomenal. The only point at which I was remotely uncomfortable was the separate room with the different fetus stages and the pregnant woman, creepy.
