[quote name='JeffCR07' date='Jul 17 2004, 08:01 PM'] Every once in a while someone will post a link to a protestant forum where they're defending the Church, and everytime I go check these debates out, the catholics are WAY outnumbered. This kind of makes me skeptical as to whether or not a pair is really gonna cut it for taking on a site.

Then I started thinking about it, and what if we just got together our group of like 5-8 people and all worked together, one site at a time. I kind of feel like with a group that sized of solid, orthodox catholics we could really become a force to be reckoned with.

Jeff, this is a great idea! The Catholic Church needs a sufficient number of apologists on debate phorums in order for the defense of the Church to be more effective. Now, when do we plan to have our first, "crusade" if you may, of these sites? I love the idea of going in teams of 5-8. Our voice will be heard! If there is anything I can do to spread the news of this awesome idea, please message me!

May God Bless!

Our goal is not conversion, that is the Holy Spirit's department :) , ours is to spread the Truth with love. The rest will take care of itself.

Mary's Knight, La

i'm willing to apprentice myself to someone more skilled, definitely for this effort we'll need to have *required reading* though that way before we go in there we have at least standard issue stuff that way everything isn't "hold on while I look that up" i'll keep checking this thread if you want to coordinate it from here but i'd recommend a "conditioning period" for learning and at least contemplating responses before going in there.

i know with formal debates if you dont know your topic cold before going in there you get chewed up fast and while we can't convert it will be essential to present a prepared face for it

sounds good guys. I'm all about this whole "crusade" into Protestant forums. Cmom is right, we should remember that we do not convert people, the Spirit does. We can, however, plant the seed of faith by use of the sword of truth, so to say.

It looks to me like we have a goodly number of people who are willing and able (at least 6 or 7). When phatcatholic (or leader, lol) gets back, I say we get started!

[quote name='cmotherofpirl' date='Jul 16 2004, 02:19 PM'] We could ask pick a time to invade yahoo catholic chat, but only as a group.

Me and Jacob used to do that. I agree that it's important to do it in a group, as those people are FILLED with questions which they fired out before we had a decent chance to answers them.

"Why do Catholics call priests father"
"Why do you pray to statues?"

etc etc etc.

It's essential to go in a group.

[quote name='JeffCR07' date='Jul 17 2004, 10:01 PM'] Hey guys, I'm not really sure if this is a good idea or not, but just a thought:

Every once in a while someone will post a link to a protestant forum where they're defending the Church, and everytime I go check these debates out, the catholics are WAY outnumbered. This kind of makes me skeptical as to whether or not a pair is really gonna cut it for taking on a site.

I know it may take longer, but I think we may, in the long run, get more done, especially considering the fact that if such and such a person is sort of "out of commission" for a couple days, their will be plenty of people to pick up the slack.

I dunno what you guys think of the idea, but I was just thinking that it might be better for everyone involved to start small, work as a unified group, and take this one step at a time, since we really don't want to mess this up or make serious mistakes.

Also, thywillbedone7, I completely agree 100%!

I agree. I've read some threads where even if it's two Catholics, somehow strength is in numbers. If there are, let's say, 6 or 7 good people there firmly/strongly debating (charitably!)it should cover it solidly. And it would give us a break sometimes because we wouldn't be standing alone. :D

I'm soooo for this. I've been wanting to do something like this for a while, but I was kind of scared to "go alone", lol.

I need a partner...*warning: I'm not that great :(...but I try...what I lack in everything else I make up for in enthusiasm and prayer!*

Oh, and are we doing "pairs" as in two people or more like "groups"?

AMDG :D

Enthusiasm and prayer are the two most VITAL components, with the second being the most important, of course.
