cathoholic_anonymous
If my heart weren't already grafted onto Carmel (despite the best efforts of my spiritual director to hijack me for the Dominicans) I would be in danger of losing it to this beautiful abbey. I am considering making a retreat there in the aftermath of my exams. They seem like such a wonderful community. puellapaschalis
Sr. Valery (and her sidekick, Sr. Tamsin) has been known to try and kidnap me for the Dominicans, too St. Cecilia's is indeed lovely. PP
cathoholic_anonymous
I forgot that you know Sr Valery. When was the last time you saw her?
Maggyie
St. Cecilia's is very special to me, because it was a few years ago while I was looking at their website strictly for secular "look at the pretty pictures!" reasons, that I felt the pull of the Holy Spirit to begin practicing my Catholic faith

cathoholic_anonymous
There used to be novices at Cambridge? Now we have just four sisters here, all of them fully professed. I can't imagine the convent holding any more. It's very small.
Starets
There is nothing better than a Benedictine monastery to soothe the soul, in my COMPLETELY unbiased opinion. That community does look like a very good one. It is a member of Solesmes, so naturally the liturgies will be splendid.

Even some Protestants over here in the US become Benedictine Oblates because of the rich prayer and spirituality of the Bennies. Read Kathleen Norris's The Cloister Walk for that perspective.

Then I can next think of a lady called Ann(e?) who entered Stone, although I'm not sure if she persevered. As I understood things, Cambridge was supposed to function as Stone's novitiate. This is all several years ago though! PP Edited April 21, 2007 by puellapaschalis
Sr Mary Catharine OP
I have a friend who was a novice at St. Cecilia's but she left because she couldn't make the cultural adjustment! Sorry to all the Brits here! She is now a Cistercian here in the US. Yeah, OSB is good. I was "raised" OSB because my "parish" was a Benedictine Abbey, but I say, nothing like the OP's! One of our hopes is to refound a Dominican monastery in England. There were never many OP monasteries there although England was one of the early foundations of the Order, as early as St. Dominic's time. So, if the Lord wants it, he'll give us a ton of novices and make it happen. A bunch of novices from England would help, too! And then of course, there is Australia! I wonder if any of this will happen in my lifetime! SMCatharine
