My very third Bible (1st was a Catholic children's that I received as a tot, 2nd was a complete Bible that I received for my 1st Communion) was a Gideon. I liked it because it was so very pocket-sized. I am curious to see where the case goes... it seems pretty lame going after a couple of Gideons. Where is the ACLU? Oh that's right - they hate God's Word.
If you want a really great and tiny devotional/pocket sized Bible with Catholic footnotes in the most important places, get the Baronius Press Psalms and New Testament. That's what I use for devotional reading of the Bible. Edited April 21, 2007 by StThomasMore

cathoholic_anonymous
One can get saved even reading a badly translated Catholic Bible.
The most commonly used translations of the Bible in Catholic Churches are the Revised Standard Version and the New Revised Standard Version. These are also the translations that theology students are obliged to use at Oxford and Cambridge Universities. The name 'Oxbridge' stands for two of the best universities in the world. And no, their theology departments don't list towards Catholicism. If anything, here at Cambridge there is a slight Protestant bias. If a world-renowned university decides that the best translation of Scripture for the purposes of its theology course is one that was prepared by Catholics, I assume that this means that the translation must be reasonably accurate. Otherwise a group of professors who have spent the last forty years studying Hebrew, Aramaic, and New Testament Greek wouldn't have chosen it. Regarding the Gideons and their Bibles, I like them. The translation is poor, but it is comforting to go into a hotel room and see the red jacket of the New Testament peeping up from the bracket by your bed. None of the Gideons I have ever met have been pushy or rude, so I don't think the fault was theirs in this case. That's too cool
Not you Lounge Daddy, unless you're StThomasMore. I'm talking about Thomas More, who says burn protestant bibles. If Roman Catholics want people to convert, don't send someone like St.ThomasMore out. He goes against the Pauline way of evangelism to become as one of the people you want to witness to. Every bible has errors in it, because every bible has a certain bias to it, and then there is the lack of understanding of the language, which can cause errors in the text. 'Bibles' printing outright lies, or adding too or subtracting from a scripture, should be handled with extreme prejudiced.

Budge was critizing the Catholic Church for preventing Bibles with known errors from being published. I was asking if she would support the publishing of a Bible that protrayed Jesus as a stoner. Your point is still moot.

Who has a perfect Bible if you acknowledge errors in some. What proof is there that there is not errors in all, especially since fallible men did the translating. So then Budge believes the Bible is infallible if the originals existed but they don't. So there is no such thing as infallible scripture for her. Or do you have a perfect Bible from infallible translators Budge?
