Bruce S
Interesting. One of the byproducts of participation here online, and "hanging" with you "Uber-Catholics" is translational skills. Today, I had two occasions where I was in "translation mode" The first, was in a Bible study at noon, we were discussing Romans, specially Paul's battle to instill "Grace" and his battle and terminology of "The Circumcised" and the pride of the Jew in HIS denomination, customs, and special relationship with God. The people at the study just couldn't relate to that problem. But, me seeing direct parallels with the brick wall protestants come up against here in discussion, I asked how many knew and had tried to talk with Catholics. [Our area is about 75% Catholic] all had. I then used the issues of Catholicsm, as seen throught the eyes of a Protestant, not specifics, but the matters of community, pride, sacramental system, priesthood, etc. Instantly, the passages in Romans made sense to everyone, the blindness of the Jew brought on by his trying to find favor with God by HIS action, not by mere Grace. Thanks for that insight, it has helped me immensely with Romans, and Galations. Secondly, a bank teller and I ... through an odd turn of events, got to yakking. Her family is Catholic, she was too, and has become a Born Again Baptist. She couldn't understand why so many things she once embraced [she is 57] now seem so foreign to her, and why she now can't even communicate with her Catholic family on these issues. I walked her through the AUTHORITY thing, the difference in the Catholic mindset as to where to turn for the answer, versus the way a Protestant will think. It was as if a giant lightbulb went off in her head. Even though, she, like others, had BEEN a Catholic most of her life, she never understood this because she relied on local authority for direction, and never got into the historical and thinking behind why a Catholic will ultimately think on a different path than a Protestant. So, thank you all, being here, is helpful to MY understanding too. Just not in the way that one might think it would be. Best and XXXX./

Bruce S
Bruce, why are you persecuting Christ? Grin, come on, that is priceless!! Bruce S
Catholics: Listen to the non Catholics. They have some valid points. Dont go and insult them just because they have a different belief. Try to explain your point of view to them. If they start to insult you, do what Jesus said, turn the other cheek. Reply to them as nicely as possible. Read the bold type. Pray on that one. I do on my end.
Jake Huether
Grin, come on, that is priceless!! Do you HONESTLY think, that if Jesus were alive today, he would fly to Rome and sit at the LEFT HAND of the Pope? He would smite the Vatican in my personal opinion, blow it UP!! Do you HONESTLY think, that if Jesus were alive today, he would fly to Rome and sit at the LEFT HAND of the Pope? Bruce, no one said this. It is a figmant of your imagination. What I honestly think is that Jesus Christ established the Catholic Church. And you are bashing it.
IcePrincessKRS
First, the Pope would step down FOR Jesus. He would wash and kiss Christ's feet. You are so very ignorant if you actually believe that the Pope would make Jesus sit at his left. Second, did your whole intro post there mean to imply that you think Catholics are blind? "In the dark" so to speak? This thread is ridiculous. :haha:
Bruce S
What I honestly think is that Jesus Christ established the Catholic Church. And you are bashing it. And you would be wrong on that. Jesus came and died for ALL.... Not for a denomination.
Aloysius
i think he'd go over to the Vatican, find the current Pope, and say: Well done my Good and faithful servent (unless it was a bad pope.. then He might slap him on the face and say, you know how hard i hadta work to keep you from erring without floodin the whole world?.. but that wouldn't be for JPII i don't think) and then He'd relieve Him of duty and use the Chair of Rock on which He built His Church to speak to His Church telling them the end had come... well,,, of course He could use His own power to let everyone know that too... whatever He wants
Jake Huether
Read the bold type. Catholics here are so BLINDED BY PRIDE that they NEVER CONCEDE a single point, ever, ever, ever, .... X 1,000. Pray on that one. I do on my end. Since no one will stop you from insulting Christ's Body, His Bride... Then I'll do the only thing I can. I will pray for you, and I will offer up my day for you so that Christ will look away from your hate.
IcePrincessKRS
And you would be wrong on that. Jesus came and died for ALL.... Not for a denomination. Yes, he came and died for ALL. HE also established a Church. That WE happen to be a part of, and that YOU continually bash. Non-Catholics often do have some valid points. I fail to see any in this thread. (Or maybe I should say I think you fail to make any in this thread....)
willguy
Thanks for that insight, it has helped me immensely with Romans, and Galations. Somehow I don't feel complimented. Do you HONESTLY think, that if Jesus were alive today, he would fly to Rome and sit at the LEFT HAND of the Pope? No. But we never said He would. He would smite the Vatican in my personal opinion, blow it UP!! I'm not even going to vindicate this prime example of Christian Charity with a rebuttal. Reply to them as nicely as possible. As you did above? Catholics: Listen to the non Catholics. They have some valid points. I do. As a matter of fact, I listen to non-christians. I have a copy of the Koran and a Hindu/Buddhist mala in my room as we speak actually. Catholics here are so BLINDED BY PRIDE that they NEVER CONCEDE a single point, ever, ever, ever, .... X 1,000. Wrong again. Catholics here (myself included) believe that the Catholic Church is fully true and therefore never concede because it would be willingly embracing that which we view as false. Anna
Do you HONESTLY think, that if Jesus were alive today, he would fly to Rome and sit at the LEFT HAND of the Pope? hmmm. There you go, misrepresenting our Faith again. I'm sick of these slams. He would smite the Vatican in my personal opinion, blow it UP!! Then, maybe you don't know Jesus as well as you should. He promised that the gates of hell would not prevail against His Bride. Doubtful that He would blow her up. You seem obsessed with Catholicism, Bruce. Do you think you could even go one day without thinking about the Church you walked away from? I mean, you left It right?.......but you just can't leave It, can you? Jake Huether
And you would be wrong on that. Jesus came and died for ALL.... Not for a denomination. Was going to respond... But it will do no good. I'm praying for you.
jasJis
Bruce, You keep lying about Catholicism and about Christianity and about religion in general. Granted, most people here aren't affected (other than being annoyed at your evilness). But your repeated hammering of your lies may seperate some poor souls from Grace. We'll do what we can, and pray about the rest. You are sad, dude. I will pray for you.
