Thy Geekdom Come
Okay, so I never used to like country music much (a little bit, but not much). I started appreciating it when I was in Lincoln (because everyone in Omaha listens to oldies, but everyone in Lincoln listens to country). Since I've been with my fiancee, I've listened almost exclusively to country music. Anyone have any favorite country songs or artists? Me and God by Josh Turner and Ralph Stanley "There ain't nothing that can't be done By me and God Ain't nobody come in between me and God One day we'll live together Where the angels trod Me and God Early in the morning talking it over Me and God Late at night talking it over Me and God You could say where like two peas in a pod Me and God He's my Father He's my friend The beginning And the end He rules the world With a staff and rod We're a team Me and God I am weak and he is strong Me and God He forgives me when I'm wrong Me and God He's the one I lean on When life gets hard Me and God He's my Father He's my friend The beginning And the end He rules the world With a staff and rod We're a team Me and God He rules the world With a staff and rod We're a team Me and God We're a team Me and God"

jmjtina
Josh Turner is great!!!!!! I absolutely think his music is awesome! He took country music by storm!!!!! Brad Paisley, check him out. He wrote "She's Everything" and is super duper popular at weddings down yonder. : hahaha, if it's God's Will, whoever I end up marrying will probably end up listening to a bit of country music as well. (and P5C, phatmass, and the Apologist, of course) Tell Jennie "Howdy"!!!!
SisterAli
I like Carrie Underwood's Song... Jesus Take the Wheel She was driving last Friday on her way to Cincinnati On a snow white Christmas Eve Going home to see her Mama and her Daddy with the baby in the backseat Fifty miles to go and she was running low on faith and gasoline It would been a long hard year She had a lot on her mind and she didn't pay attention She was going way to fast Before she knew it she was spinning on a thin black sheet of glass She saw both their lives flash before her eyes She didn't even have time to cry She was sooo scared She threw her hands up in the air Jesus take the wheel Take it from my hands Cause I can't do this all on my own I'm letting go So give me one more chance To save me from this road I'm on Jesus take the wheel It was still getting colder when she made it to the shoulder And the car came to a stop She cried when she saw that baby in the backseat sleeping like a rock And for the first time in a long time She bowed her head to pray She said I'm sorry for the way I've been living my life I know I've got to change So from now on tonight Jesus take the wheel Take it from my hands Cause I can't do this all my own I'm letting go So give me one more chance To save me from this road I'm on Oh, Jesus take the wheel Oh, I'm letting go So give me one more chance Save me from this road I'm on From this road I'm on Jesus take the wheel Oh, take it, take it from me Oh, why, oh
Thy Geekdom Come
"Would You Go With Me" Would you go with me if we rolled down streets of fire Would you hold on to me tighter as the summer sun got higher If we roll from town to town and never shut it down Would you go with me if we were lost in fields of clover Would we walk even closer until the trip was over And would it be okay if I didn't know the way If I gave you my hand would you take it And make me the happiest man in the world If I told you my heart couldn't beat one more minute without you, girl Would you accompany me to the edge of the sea Let me know if you're really a dream I love you so, so would you go with me [Instrumental] Would you go with me if we rode the clouds together Could you not look down forever If you were lighter than a feather Oh, and if I set you free, would you go with me If I gave you my hand would you take it And make me the happiest man in the world If I told you my heart couldn't beat one more minute without you, girl Would you accompany me to the edge of the sea Help me tie up the ends of a dream I gotta know, would you go with me I love you so, so would you go with me
Thy Geekdom Come
"Way Down South" I grew up workin' on a farm, way down South I went to school against my will, way down South I kissed girls and I shot squirrels out behind my house I learned a lot about this world, way down South I went to church, sang a lot of hymns, way down South I learned to work on my pickup truck, way down South I played my guitar under the stars, out behind our house You will always find my heart, way down South Clothes on a clothes line, hangin' in the sunshine A garden growin' in the ground Country music on the radio, talk about a good ol' sound People drivin' pass when I'm cuttin' grass Wavin' at every single one That's the way it's done when you come from, way down South Way down South [Instrumental] Swimmin' in the creek with all my friends, way down South Prayin' them days would never end, way down South Give me a worm and a fishin' pole, I'll pull a fish on out Those memories will never get old, way down South Clothes on a clothes line, hangin' in the sunshine A garden growin' in the ground Country music on the radio, talk about a good ol' sound People drivin' pass when I'm cuttin' grass Wavin' at every single one That's the way it's done when you come from, way down South That's the way it's done when you come from, way down South Way down South, way down South Mmmmmmm.... Yeah, way on down

scardella
It's Rodney Atkins - "Watching You". Great song! Here are the lyrics: Driving through town just my boy and me With a happy meal in his booster seat Knowing that he couldn't have the toy Till his nuggets were gone Green traffic light turned straight to red I hit my breaks and mumbled under my breath As fries went a flying and his orange drink covered his lap Well then my four year old said a four letter word That started with "s" and I was concerned So I said son now where did you learn to talk like that [Chorus one] He said I've been watching you dad, ain't that cool I'm your buckaroo, I wanna be like you And eat all my food and grow as tall as you are We got cowboy boots and camo pants Yeah we're just alike, hey ain't we dad I wanna do everything you do So I've been watching you We got back home and I went to the barn I bowed my head and I prayed real hard Said lord please help me help my stupid self Then this side of bedtime later that night Turning on my son's scooby doo nightlight He crawled out of bed and he got down on his knees He closed his little eyes, folded his little hands And spoke to god like he was talking to a friend And I said son where'd you learn to pray like that [Chorus two] He said I've been watching you dad, ain't that cool I'm your buckaroo, I wanna be like you And eat all my food and grow as tall as you are We like fixing things and holding mama's hand Yeah we're just alike, hey ain't we dad I wanna do everything you do So I've been watching you [Bridge] With tears in my eyes I wrapped him in a hug Said my little bear is growing up He said but when I'm big I'll still know what to do [Chorus three] Cause I've been watching you dad, ain't that cool I'm your buckaroo, I wanna be like you And eat all my food and grow as tall as you are Then I'll be as strong as you and superman We'll be just alike, hey won't we dad When I can do everything you do Cause I've been watching you

MissScripture
I love Josh Turner. His voice is so much deeper than it seems it should be, when you look at him! I like a variety of country. I never listened to it before I came to school, but my roommate always had it on, and it became the background music of my life. Although, I did love Charley Pride, because my grandpa always listened to him.

fearundercontrol
I am starting to like country music. I was actually going to start a thread a while ago (like maybe a month ago) but just never did (obviously). Going by what I've heard on the radio, I like Tim McBride, Rascal Flatts, Carrie Underwood, Jason Michael Carroll (although I can't listen to his song "Alyssa Lies" because it's just too sad), Martina McBride, and others I don't remember the names of. I also like Ryan Shuppe & the Rubber Band but I never hear them on the radio. Edited April 19, 2007 by fearundercontrol
