GodChild
I'm having trouble finding info about congregations beyond Australia ... since most of u seem to live in the US, would you mind giving me a link to a good TRADITIONAL congregation of nuns or a website (like a vocations site) that has a list of them. The communities in Oz dont appeal to me much so I think I'll have a look in other countries. Having said that, what are peoples opinions on Benedictines of Mary, Queen of Apostles? Benedictines of Mary or CMRI sisters CMRI Thanks
shortnun
The Benedictines recently relocated to my state. I do believe they are in communion with Rome, and have the Tridentine Mass celebrated for them. The CMRI sisters are not in communion with Rome. From their website:
The Second Vatican Council is to be rejected as a false council because it has erred in its teachings on faith and morals. SOURCE
Also, I don't know exactly what you mean by "traditional" (it's such a loaded word these days), but here is are reputable US websites you might be interested in: http://www.cmswr.org/ http://www.religiouslife.com/
GodChild
Thanks .... : writing at a million miles an hour. I can say quiet positively that I know I have a religious vocation, the only thing is I need to get the guts to not scared off by the smallest things, or my families disapproval. By traditional I mean a community that is in communion with Rome - not sedavacanist, schismatic etc - but one that loves catholic tradition, is orthodox and has a proper habit - not tracksuits, jeans, skirt and top. Im so excited ... excuse the hysterics of my last post when i was drowining in the depths of despair ... no wonder i've been dying all this time, God has created me for himself! : I finish uni at the end of this year and I have been working and saving money so I can immediately pay all my study fees. I can enter somewhere early next year (if that's what God wants) I've looked and looked at the congregations in Australia (visited Benedictines in Jamberoo, Tyburn in Sydney, VerbumDei, Carmelites) and I don't feel called to any of them. I had the most weirdest experience... but doesn't matter about that. I've been looking through past posts for lists of religious communities. Please help : Thanks. Starets
First of all, I am glad to read this positive report from you Second, I would like to suggest Our Lady of the Desert They are a daughter house of Jamberoo Abbey in Oz. They are currently in NM but are planning a move to a different location in New Mexico. they are a growing community and are solidly traditional and solidly orthodox. Mary-Kathryn
The Benedictines of Mary are a wonderful Community and are in Communion with Rome. I knew of someone in my old parish who entered. I don't know enough about any other community to be of help. The CMRI [is that it?] I may be in error, but I think they may have problems. Someone with more knowledge can tell you if they are in line with Rome or not. prayers for you
the lords sheep
From the communities you've looked at, I'm guessing you are looking for contemplatives?? Is there any particular strain you're looking for? (Dominican, Franciscan, Benedictine, etc) or have you narrowed it down to that yet? There's a beautiful order of contemplative (and I think cloistered..) sisters called the Pink Sisters. They're in St. Louis, MO as well as a few other US cities, and I believe they are in the Philippines too (which is a little closer to you, although I don't know that they speak English). My recommendation is to try to find a spiritual director that may be familiar with communities around the world and could direct you to a few (especially if you're looking at cloisters and really want to visit before you enter...) Good luck to you. You'll be in our prayers! Lauren

A Yearning Heart
Happy to hear things are better have you visited the Redemptoristines in NSW? There are comtemplative but thats all i know of them. http://www.rc.net/australia/redemptoristines/ or the poor clares in cambelltown (no website that i can find) or think there are some in victoria as well. the information about female religious in oz seems a little thin on the ground with even less vocational days etc happening. there seems to be more going on, like come and see weekends and stuff, overseas. If you dont mind me asking; how does one know when a congregation isnt where one is called? and for those out there who have found their calling-how did you know it was the right one? its seems li ke a difficult thing to determine

I know that doesn't sound like much, but whan you pray and discern you come to sense the direction the Lord is leading you. I dont know if that makes sense. Sometimes theres more obvious signs a community is not for you ... for instance they reject you, too many obstacles that wont go away, feeling something is not quiet right ... The congregations I have discerned with and prayed about are - Poor Clares (Campbeltown) -Tyburn Nuns (Sydney) - Benedictine Nuns (Jamberoo) -Carmelites (Varroville) - VerbumDei (Sydney) Beyond that theres not too many others here in Oz I havent looked at the Redemptoristines but I'm about to check out their site now Also your from Oz!!!! - GREAT : : : sometimes I feel me and In His Light are the only aussies here

They are very good women, from what I am told, but if you want to stay with the Church as Christ intended religious communities to be, I would avoid them. Their thinking can be a little radical and Jansensitic. If you are looking for more traditional (meaning traditional to their roots) religious communities, I would recommend the Carmelites in Des Plaines, IL. They are really wonderful. I wish you God's grace in your search!
