SallyCat
I did it for a short time...when I did it things worked, but I am a bit of a carbohydrate freak. So if ya love 'em i'd say this diet is not for you.
dUSt
Yeah. If I had to choose, I'd definitely rather live off of bread and pasta than meat. I don't know why I did Atkins. Partly to practice self-discipline--partly because it does work if you can stick to it. I think I'll just use common sense from now on... If I go to McDonalds or Burger King, I'll get a side salad instead of the fries, etc. Geesh. I never had to worry about this when I was younger. How depressing. M.SIGGA
The Monk is right, the high cholestrol in the Atkins diet from Dairy, Eggs, Meats and coagulated milk will turn your liver into pate. I got back to my runningback weight on a 2000 calorie/day diet eating a variety of different foods, pretty much whatever I like. You automatically burn 1500 a day so a 45 minute/workout exercise will take care of the rest. Atkins is a killer
cmotherofpirl
Siggy thats fine if you can exercise 45 minutes a day. Dust losing 24 pounds since Jan 5 is very impressive. What protein were you mainly eating - red meat or chicken?
nikkan_hanil
I'm not sure about you guys, but "Michelle" supposedly "lost 55 pounds in 2 weeks!". Edited January 27, 2004 by nikkan_hanil
hyperdulia again
My Aunt lost 60 pounds on it and then at forty after 17 years of her and her husband trying she got pregnant with the first of two Atkins babies. And yes she really does connect the diet and the pregnancies...and not for THAT reason.
VeraMaria
In Our Health Ed class our teacher (who's also a nutritionist) told us that the Atkins diet is not really that healthy because you body NEEDS carbs to work (your brain especially) and that you should instead learn to distinguish "good carbs" from "bad carbs" whatever
cmotherofpirl
My body thinks any carb is a good carb

M.SIGGA
How do you get fiber on Atkins? Those new Subway Atkins wraps look like you'll be backed up for days if that's all you are eating.

cmotherofpirl
I ate lots and lots of different kinds of lettuce: few calories and lots of bulk.
dUSt
When I was on it, I had huge omelettes for breakfast, with sausage, bacon, mushrooms, broccoli and coagulated milk. For lunch, I usually had KFC chicken without the skin, Whoppers without the bun, Jack-in-the-Box cheeseburgers with no bun, etc. For dinner, usually chicken or steak, with mushrooms, cabbage, spinach or collard greens (my wife makes really good greens). I also found a recipe for these little spinach quiches that were really good. I ate those throughout the day as snacks. Then, plenty of water and Diet Ice Botanicals. It's important when you do Atkins to eat as much of the vegetables as allowed, as it gives you the stuff meat doesn't I guess.
