Thy Geekdom Come
A prayer from a website Budge linked to on another site: "Lord Jesus, I confess that I am a sinner and need a Saviour. I ask for forgiveness of my sin and ask You to be my personal Saviour. I am trusting in You and You alone for my salvation. I believe You suffered and died on the cross to pay the FULL price for my sin, and to give me new life and that You rose again from the grave. I thank You for saving me." As Catholics, we have no problem praying this at all. Thanks for the prayer, Budge. It also includes this note: "If from a sincere heart you have prayed to receive Jesus Christ as your Saviour it is now very important that you fellowship with a Bible-believing, Bible-preaching church that can teach you and help you to grow in your new life in Christ." Wait...so I have to have a sincere heart? Budge, doesn't that mean that your view of salvation is based on my merit? I mean, if I choose to be insincere, then I can't be saved, but if I choose to be sincere, then I can be saved...doesn't that make salvation hinge on me? Please help clear up this problem for me. It would appear from your link that my salvation depends partly on my own internal disposition. God bless, Micah
