Ciao Amici,

Feast April 2, 2007 in honor of the Holy Father. A nice dinner at my house, drink some good Italian wine, watch a little of "A Witness to Hope" (Weigel's biography of HHJPII), and offer up some prayers through the intercession of John Paul for our world and particular issues in contemporary society to which he spoke. Overall, it would be a night to remember his love and celebrate the Communion of Saints. Most of us were actually there at the time of his death, so the conversation should be interesting, as well. I have invited Father Cozzens and Father Erickson -it is very much in the spirit of John Paul II, after all, to hang-out with some young lay-people!

JPII Pray for us!

:idontknow: It's my daughter's birthday... it's what we do every year. I didn't say that was ALL I was going to do that day.

Let's not forget this! Even though he is probably already in Heaven, Papa John Paul did request prayers for his soul in his will!

I love the Communion of Saints ^_^

We cannot say anyone is without a doubt in heaven but the canonized Saints. We cannot say anyone is probably in heaven but the beatified Beati. All others are in a state of uncertainty: we know not whether they are in hell, purgatory or heaven.

Unless you're a meteorologist, then you can make your predictions.

Maybe we could eat Polish food. John Paul II loved his Polish heritage and indentity. Too bad I gave up sausage for Lent, or else I would try to eat some kielbasa! We could do some reading/praying on Divine Mercy, which he was very fond of. Or go skiing or play soccer... Or kiss the soil or a baby's forehead...

A Nazi invasion, a Soviet invasion, the fall of communism in Europe - he was there through all of it. Despite this, losing his entire immediate family by the time he was in his early twenties, and all of his ailments he was one of the happiest people I have ever seen. An amazing, holy man. If you want to see what the hand of God can do in (and with) the life of his faithful servants, look at him. I wish I had appreciated his presence more when he was alive. The wonderful shockwaves of his pontificate are still yet to be fully felt. Think of his efforts with youth over the years - they are all still young and it will be great when they become leaders in the Church.

thus the interests in your profile.

I'm gonna celebrate too. I think I've been growing closer to the teachings of JPII now more than I did when he was reigning pope. Maybe it's just because I'm getting older, though, and understanding a little better.

That soul is reposed. We are talking Santo Subito with this one.
