KnightofChrist Posted March 28, 2007 Share Posted March 28, 2007 I am nearly done, a few things need to be fixed, and added ie the sections of Dining and Off Season are not up yet. I basically need to know if there are typos, or other errors. You can even help by just telling me what your connect speed is to the internet and how long it took to load. dialup, DSL, or Cable, or other and how many seconds, please. I'd like to know as close to the actual load time as you can give me, I wont understand "man it was slow", or wow fast. Give me seconds pahweez. And what do you think of the new logo of my business? Still working on it as well... hoosieranna Posted March 28, 2007 Share Posted March 28, 2007 I have Verizon DSL, and it loaded in about 1 second. First thing I noticed after a cursory glance was one typo. In the second paragraph of the introduction on the first page, there is a "Youth Dram Camp" mentioned. Perhaps "Youth Drama Camp"? Also, on the page about "Sword of Peace", in the last paragraph before the playwright's bio, it mentions that "the Dixon's are buried in the old graveyard..." It should just be "the Dixons are buried." There is no apostrophe for a plural, only for a possessive. Dixon, plural = Dixons. Dixon, possessive = Dixon's. Hope that helps. The logo is cool. KnightofChrist Posted March 28, 2007 Author Share Posted March 28, 2007 Does anyone know how I could get the music to play contentiously threw out the site without it restarting each time a new page is opened? I can get it to repeat 1000 times, but it starts over each time a page is opened that smells of elderberries. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Then you would have to combine the several pages into one page. with the links working like movies within the one file. Like this site I did: http://www.gpc-swg.com It is all one page. There are limitations to that though. One major one (for me) being that you can't use "back" without refreshing the entire site. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
prose Posted March 28, 2007 Share Posted March 28, 2007 Oh and the scrolling text at the top is hard to see. Maybe slow it down a bit? Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Piccoli Fiori JMJ Posted March 28, 2007 Share Posted March 28, 2007 I've heard that you can make a small frame with the music on there so it will continually play w/o restarting every time you follow a link. But I know nothing about web design. : Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Lounge Daddy Posted March 29, 2007 Share Posted March 29, 2007 Web sites that play music are obnoxious I don't know why so many dummies put up with MySpace. Otherwise I dig it so far, Knight Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I see you are using some flash so as mentioned before, if you turn those pages into one page and just changed to the different content when you clicked on the links for them, you could get it to work. The other way mentioned was frames which can be implemented fairly easily. You just need to create a page which will hold the frames information like so:
<html> <frameset rows="*,1" frameborder="no"> <frame frameborder="no" scrolling="auto" src="http://bellsouthpwp.net/m/e/messickf/" noresize> <frame frameborder="no" scrolling="no" src="pagewithmusicembedded.html" noresize> </frameset> </html>
You need to have this as your default page since users will need to link to this page and not the content page. Your current index page will need to be renamed to something else and inserted into the src property of that first frame tag. You will have to remove the code for the embedded music and place that in a seperate page which you will then place in the src property of the second frame tag. The main problem with this method is the user won't see the music control unless you make the second frame bigger, but I think frames make pages ugly, so I wouldn't recommend it. There is still a third option which is iframes. You basically would have to create a page with the main border for the page, (just the background of your current page). Then inside that first div tag after body just insert:
<iframe src="newpage.html" frameborder=0 width=900>
All the content from your original page starting with that table tag would have to be put into a new page and taken out of the old page. Then link to the new page inside the src property for iframe. Then at the bottom of the main index page (the one with the iframe tag) just keep the music there so this way users have access to the control so they can stop it if they like. You'll have to mess around with it a little bit to make sure you can get it too look right, but those are the basic steps. I hope this all made sense. I recommend reading this also before deciding to use frames just so you know the cons.
