Tying the presence of God in the Bible and miracles and apparitions of Fatima with the "UFO" phenomena is just absurd, and blatantly disregarding of the facts. Everyone who witnessed it, said the [i]sun itself[/i] "danced," not a sun-like spaceship or such. And are you saying that an alien spaceship just happened to fly by when the Fatima seers promised a sign from Our Lady??
Or are you implying that the Blessed Virgin is really a space alien? (Whose agenda inexplicably consists of people praying many rosaries, repenting of their sins, and being faithful Catholics)

In Michael Hessmann's [u]The Fatima Secret [/u]in Chapter 6 entitled the The Dancing Sun depending on different eyewitnesses it was described in various descriptions as a "bright shield", "a blinding orb", "like a disc of mother of pearl" and "a dancing sun". Some people didn't see the phenomenon but felt something instead. Some people saw it change many colors most commonly blue. Have you ever witnessed the sun turn blue?

Your own original post reports the witnesses seeing the sun return to its normal place in the sky, not fly away. Of course, the sun is not normally seen doing the things described - that's why the event is a [i]miracle[/i].

And the Miracle of the Sun is only a small part of the whole Fatima story. You are ignoring the apparitions of Our Lady, and their prophecies (many inexplicable if just made up by uneducated shepherd children), and their profound effect on the children's faith, and the children undergoing many hardships rather than deny the truth of their story.

It would seems that your suggestion imply either that a UFO siting just happened to precisely coincide with the apparition's promise of a sign, or that your space aliens are devout Catholics (though a devout Catholic would never impersonate the Blessed Mother). Yes, a miracle indeed compared to the technology of the flying craft/shining wheels/spinning shields/falling/zig-zagging “suns” seen during this period. With this reasoning, any spectacular event that puts us in awe or that seems humbling to us or any contact with a BEing who is different from our species can possibly also be perceived and included as a “miracle”. The photo I included in post #49 could very well qualify as a miracle to those witnesses. The difference being that now we may just classify them as UFO Sightings. This is in no way implying that no one from 1913 or before has witnessed some type of unexplained object in the sky, it is just that today we have more of a organizied way to study and research this phenomenon.

The curious part of this phenomenon for me is why the “Virgin Mary” appealed/appeared to only the children and not the crowd? Very strange.
Or why the apparition had used and endangered the children to convey this imperative message to religious authorities instead of confronting these authorities personally? You know as well as I do, that faith can be a very powerful tool, one that can be used correctly and abused incorrectly by anyone exercising it. Researchers have speculated that the innocence and naiviety of kids could be the methods used by pedophiles to lure and ensnare children. I am not willing to be so foolish to proclaim that the Virgin Mary is in the habit of using faith to deceive small children (without a lot more evidence) but it is interesting to see how the phenomenon used the reputation of this sacred image to coerce and manipulate three small (albeit faithful) children into doing her/their/it’s bidding (an important pattern that one cannot avoid when discussing and comparing religious visitations to the UFO phenomenon). I often wonder with the magnitude of delivering such an important spiritual message to a prominent religious figure if it would have been better handled by someone older or more responsible or if the messenger should have confronted the proper authoritative individual in person.

Please keep in mind that even though this incident at Fatima “appears” to have been targeted towards Catholics, there were many non-Catholics in attendance that day (and also in other villages) that were also deeply impressed by the event.

This “Angel Hair” sometimes, although not always, disintegrates when a person touches it, and it very often evaporates in the heat of the sun. Whether anyone has tried to eat this substance, I do not know but the description of the “bread from heaven is strikingly similar.[/color]

Stephen Michalak of Winnipeg, was prospecting near Falcon Lake, Manitoba, when he encountered two UFOs, one of which landed on a large, flat rock about 160 feet away from him. After having approached the object and looked inside, the object moved, and something like an exhaust vent was now in front of him. A blast of hot gas shot from these holes onto his chest, setting his shirt and undershirt on fire and causing him severe pain, and leaving burn marks in the shape of a grid.

The burden of proof wasn't requested from you. When comparing the Bible to current examples of the UFO phenomenon one can only speculate at best. Since it is speculation, it is still worthy of further research and investigation and a belief that remains valid to me.
