desertwoman
Does anyone believe this to be true that Adam had a first wife? I read about it and was intrigued for when Cain was thrown out and marked for no one else to kill him, I wondered how else was on the earth besides Adam and Eve. Did she bear that many children? And Cain took a wife as well, and when he did, was any other children banished from the Garden? Were there other beings on the earth?
Socrates
Does anyone believe this to be true that Adam had a first wife? It is not Church teaching, nor is it found in Divine Revelation (Sacred Scripture). I wouldn't waste time worrying about it.
Thy Geekdom Come
Ditto what Socrates said and I'd add that Cain could have been concerned about animals killing him. Anyway, we don't know how old Cain was then and it's possible that he could have been worried about Abel's children (though we don't know whether or not he had any). dairygirl4u2c
It could be that it's figurative the story. Somewhere humans in our evolution became aware of ourselves, and sin became possible. or if you don't dig evolution, that it's just a story. personally, I say eve was the mother of her kids kids and that we're all imbred. desertwoman
LOL. Yea, I do believe that we are all inbred. Had to be that way even if one believes in evolution.

N/A Gone
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lilith I always understood her as a demon who sexually tempted Adam. She is considered the "mother of demons" and if that isnt scary enough she could be.. Unfortunately, I don't remember too much about my Canaanite deities at the moment. I'll do some research when I get the chance, if you like. And, as a demon, she's got her own following. Quite a scary critter, not to be trifled with. And particularly baneful for men.
