cmotherofpirl
Mel Gibson is a Catholic until he renounces his faith. And after watching him on all the hoopla shows, I think there is a better chance of hell freezing over before that would happen.

God Conquers
I agree, Gibson: Clearly Catholic. Until further info.

Guest St. Woody
"There is no salvation for those outside the Church...I believe it. Put it this way. My wife is a saint. She's a much better person than I am. Honestly. She's like, Episcopalian, Church of England. She prays, she believes in God, she knows Jesus, she believes in that stuff. And it's just not fair if she doesn't make it, she's better than I am. But that is a pronouncement from the chair. I go with it." This is a quote I've seen attributed to Mel Gibson from many sources. I can only assume that "the chair" to which he's referring is that of the Pope, in which case it would be clear that he submits to the authority of Rome. Oik
There is one thing about your statement that I reluctantly point out. I believe that the specific teaching that Mel Gibson is referring as as being "from the chair" is a pre-vatican II teaching. Although I haven't been presented with creditable proof that Mel is schimastic, if indeed he is (which I clearly and strongly do not believe at this time), this statement, which appears to prove Gibson's alliegance (sp?), could indeed be the very statement that ponits to his (supposed) break with the Pope. As I said before, at this point, God only knows. :)
Donna
Wow, I didn't know it's schismatic to believe in infallible teachings if they're pre-Vatican II. But, Oik, I think I understand what you meant. Edited February 25, 2004 by Donna
