prose
I have these on my youth site: You must be strong, dear brothers and sisters. You must be strong with the strength that comes from faith. - Pope John Paul II Many people today are puzzled and ask: What is the point of the consecrated life? ... What in people's eyes can seem a waste is, for the individuals captivated in the depths of their heart by the beauty and goodness of the Lord, and obvious response of love, a joyful expression of gratitude for having been admitted in a unique way to the knowledge of the Son and to a sharing in His divine mission in the world. (Exhortation on the Consecrated Life, March 25, 1996) - Pope John Paul II
traichuoi
Do not be satisfied with mediocrity.
and my absolute favorite is from his address to the youth at WYD 2000:
It is Jesus in fact that you seek when you dream of happiness, he is waiting for you when nothing else you find satisfies you; he is the beauty to which you are so attracted; it is he who provokes you with that thirst for fullness that will not let you settle for compromise; it is he who urges you to shed the masks of a false life; it is he who reads in your hearts your most genuine choices, the choices that others try to stifle. It is Jesus who stirs in you the desire to do something great with your lives, the will to follow an ideal, the refusal to allow yourselves to be grounded down by mediocrity, the courage to commit yourselves humbly and patiently to improving yourselves and society, making the world more human and more fraternal.
Edited March 1, 2007 by traichuoi

Sojourner
I love the Theology of the Body ... some really, really beautiful things in there. I was looking for a couple of quotes from the TOTB and ran across this one that's not from that but touches on the ideas of the exchange of persons and gift of self: "It is not easy to love with a deep love, which lies in the authentic gift of self. This love can only be learned by penetrating the mystery of God's love. Looking at him, being one with his fatherly heart, we are able to look with new eyes at our brothers and sisters, with an attitude of unselfishness and solidarity, of generosity and forgiveness. All this is mercy!" This was from a homily during the Mass for the Canonization of Sister Mary Faustina Kowalska, Rome, April 30, 2000.
toledo_jesus
"I have looked for you. Now you have come to me. And I thank you." Heard that on the news as he was dying. Became extremely emotional.
franciscanheart
two of my favs: "An excuse is worse and more terrible than a lie for an excuse is a lie guarded." "Dear young people, may it be your holy ambition to be holy as He is holy... You will ask me: but is it impossible today to be saints? With Christ, saintliness - the divine plan for every baptized person - becomes possible. Rely on Him... Jesus walks with you, he renews your heart and strengthens you with the vigor of His Spirit... do not be afraid to be the saints of the new millenium!" This was JPI. slight difference. . JPI was terrified of being pope and really didnt want it....at the last vote the night before he was elected it became apparent that he would win the next day and he stayed up in adoration all night crying and asking God for strength.....
