Aloysius
i just wanna proove to protestants that they have accepted some sort of Marian intercession. now, don't freak out and run out of the room, i promise you you'll agree if it weren't for Mary you wouldn't have a certain Book... The Holy Bible!!! ^_^ at least the Christmas accounts, and the accounts of His Sacred Childhood, and possibly the accounts of His last Holy Words (well, give St. John credit for that intercession 2) cuz Mary hadta have taught it to the Apostles, otherwise how would they have known? then the Apostles would have had to teach it to the evangelists, or they wouldn't have known. so really, in the Bible you already have a trust in a protected tradition, originating from Mary passing through the Apostles to the Evangelists. i submit to you, that scripture is not limited to what is written down. the only thing that was declared about the Bible, if i be wrong let me be corrected with evidence, is that those were the only inspired books. didn't say they were the only inspired doctrines, just the only inspired books. did not declare that the Word of God consisted of only those books, just said only those books were the word of God. am i playin word games too much? you see, the Word of the God of the New Testament is not the 27 books contained in the New Testament, it's the words spoken by Christ Himself and passed on by tradition. God inspired certain men to compile essentials OF SACRED TRADITION into the 27 books, but He didn't disregard the rest of His teaching. the Bible, whether you like it or not, is part of Sacred Tradition, and it would not exist in it's entirety if not for the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and other Saints who knew Christ on earth. ladeedaadeedaaa... just wanted to ramble a point there. wat dost thou thinkest?

mulls
Do I detect a hint of sarcasm? Please reread Al's post. well doesn't that sum up the first paragraph? i wasn't there so i don't know, but i guess it's reasonable to say that Mary could have explained things to the Apostles. Laudate_Dominum
i wasn't there so i don't know, but i guess it's reasonable to say that Mary could have explained things to the Apostles. It seems reasonable to me for a number of reasons. For example in the prologue of his Gospel Luke says that his account is based on the testimony of those "who were with Him from the beginning". Considering his account records the Annunciation and birth of Jesus you could infer that he spoke with people who had first hand knowledge of those events. Also the emphasis on Our Lady in those first chapters, how he always says "and she [Mary] pondered them in her heart", there is a real emphasis on the experience of Mary and her interior thoughts and feelings which would support this view. You're right, we can't know for sure, but I like it! Thanks Al! Edited January 24, 2004 by Laudate_Dominum
