Having Fun With Bill Jackson

He's an anti-catholic on do.done.com. He says the Church is only spiritual. I explained how Matt 18 where we are supposed to take disputes to 2-3 witnesses and if that doesn't resolve it take it to the Church proves that there has to be a visible component as well. That a baptist and a lutheran are going to have a hard time agreeing on the visible component that is going to solve their isse.

But I was listening to Steve Ray today and he gave me another pretty clear arguement out of John 17. Here is what I sent Mr. Bill.

Bill,

I have another question for you. If the Church has only the spiritual dimension and not also a visible dimension (I say this carefully so that you may not distort the teaching to be only visible, please be honest in your answer to me) then how can the world ever see the Church? The world is not spiritual. Yet Christ says the world will see the unity of the Church.

John 17
22: The glory which thou hast given me I have given to them, that they may be one even as we are one,
23: I in them and thou in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that thou hast sent me and hast loved them even as thou hast loved me.

We know then that the Church MUST have a visible as well as spiritual component or the world would not be able to see it. Pretty clear it seems.

Your in my prayers.

God bless

Gerald

Honestly, being familiar with where he is coming from, until God grants him the grace to see the truth he will brush off any of your explanations. To him, if he admits that there is a visible Church, that will put him into a very difficult predicament! I think you did right, though, by presenting the truth to him. Now let us pray that God will remove the scales from his eyes!

Yes. Prayer is all that will open his eyes. Your right. he brushed it off. "John 17 nowhere mentions a church organization".

Thanks. I've recieve several emails since and he keeps dancing around the point of the world being able to see the Church. I continue to come back to it. :D:

Honestly, that is one of the ways that I was drawn to the Church. Faithful witnesses kept bringing me back to the point no matter how much dancing I tried to do. Persistance is a beautiful thing, both in redirecting focus and in prayer. See Luke 11:5-10.
