Jake Huether
And on what principals do they accept this teaching. My wife was talking to a guy at her work (not sure what religion), and he was saying that he believes in reincarnation. Like one day I might be a flea or something like that. So, where does this believe stem from, and on what foundation?
Carrie
I'm not sure, so feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. I think Hindus believe in reincarnation. If you are good in life, then you get reincarnated to something better. For instance you can go from being an insect, to an animal like a dog, to a human, to one of their religious leaders, and I think the top thing to be reincarnated as is a cow, since they are seen as holy. It goes both ways, so if you're bad in life then you get reincarnated downwards. I'm not sure where it stems from. I took a World religion course about 5 years ago and this is what I vaguely remember. If I can find my textbook when I get home, I'll post more about what it says. L5
When I was a little kid and didn't know better, I imagined re-incarnation before i even heard about it. I think in one way it fulfills the religious requirement for eternal life and also justice, because you reincarnate into a lower/higher being based on how well you've lived the current life. It's basically like saying 80 years is not long enough to live a full life.
Jake Huether
this was quite interesting. Especially the last part, comparing Christianity and reincarnation. http://www.comparativereligion.com/reincarnation3.html A good read for sure.
