Oh .. but unfortunately many of this sisters' interests are of the New Age mov't .. New Cosmology, sacredness of Creation, Reclaiming Spirituality, The Cosmic Christ, Prayers of the Cosmos, Quantum Theology ...

I don't mean to be insulting this beautiful sister .. just that, I wouldn't say the blog is terrific .. it's not in any way orthodox, nor within the teachings of Holy Mother Church ..

Here's something from the Vatican on the New Age Mov't - http://www.vatican.va/roman_curia/pontific...new-age_en.html

Just a follow-up though... this is an Episcopalian sister. So we ought to remember that she is writing out of her tradition.

Margaret Clare, your link to the Vatican's website about the New Age movement is helpful, but I think aspects of the New Cosmology, Sacredness of Creation, etc are without our larger catholic tradition. But you're very right, it's often difficult to tell what's what.

jkaands-- seeing as you shared this blog with us, is there more you'd like to share about how it spoke to you?

Oh hi ..sorry, I didn't mean to to be so negative and judgemental .. just want to be careful about keeping away from New Age, that's all ..

Actually I don't know if New Age is part of the Episcopalian tradition ... We have an Episcopalian parish near my Catholic parish, with a pastor that definitely doesn't want anything of the New Age in his parish ...much more traditional really than my own Catholic parish actually..

But no you're right in that, a wonder and respect of the beauty of all Creation is within the teachings of the Church, and reflects the beauty of the Author of all of this .. absolutely ...
341 The beauty of the universe: The order and harmony of the created world results from the diversity of beings and from the relationships which exist among them. Man discovers them progressively as the laws of nature. They call forth the admiration of scholars. The beauty of creation reflects the infinite beauty of the Creator and ought to inspire the respect and submission of man's intellect and will.

Catechism of the Catholic Church
Believe me, I love nature and reflecting on the awesomeness of God in creation. We can really see a great example of this in the writings of St. Francis of Assisi. But New Age is definitely a whole other thing ..

But I do apologize, I don't mean to be so quick to condemn, which is what I may be doing .. It's great how there are sisters in Episcopalian church! You know once I got stranded in Utica, NY, as I missed the bus, and someone referred me to an Episcopalian woman's shether, founded by the Episcopalian Sisters of St. Margaret! :) What a blessing of Divine Providence it was! And in my little room was one of my favorite pictures the Immaculate Heart of Mary by C. Bosseron Chambers!

Cosmology is actually a science, a branch of physics. Why has it taken on a New Age meaning?
I'm not sure really .. Yeah, Cosmology isn't really something of the New Age Mov't in itself - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cosmology#Religious_cosmology Looks like a pretty broad topic in science. But I guess I just clump it together with at lot of other things I recognize as relating to, or coming from the New Age Mov't ..

Dear jkaands, I wanted to apologize though for replying so quickly in a negative way :( .. how quickly when I sit and condemn do I often fall into pharasiism .. I'm sorry  This has really reminded me a lot of that wonderful blessing it was to be taken into that shelter in Utica .. So often it is so easy to condemn rather than speak of good things .. I used to really love a lot of things that would probably be called New Age myself, like the Irish singer Enya, and also the singer this sister wrote in her interests, Loreena McKennitt.

But yeah, this write-up on New Age on the Vatican's website is really good. I just saw it the other days on the Passionists in Whitesville 's website ..

How very sad that we have some narrow minded members. Geez, I was expecting this Sister to have sprouted horns and a tail because she is Anglican. Maybe my maturity allows me to read authors who may not share all my beliefs. She writes a very nice blog. No worse then some of the members of phatmass who have rock music blaring, innapropriate photos and dialogue that most 10 year olds would understand.

Hopefully no cat fight starts in here......

In response to this sisters blog....I thought it was interesting and informative. Although probably not my cup of tea, but I do respect her opinion and I think its wonderful that she has a blog. I don't know if I would have called not agreeing with her point of view as narrowminded....Maybe a difference in opinion perhaps. Which we all are entitled to....Just my 10 cents

This isn't a matter of "narrow-mindedness" it is a matter of prudence. We have a lot of young readers here, and I can't recommend non-Catholics in good conscience. No need to resort to name-calling. The point about young pm'ers is irrelevant, I'm not recommending either.

There's a female "priest" on the top of the page... does that at all seem appropriate? Again, there are so many better things to choose from.
