Okay... So I just light it on fire and then what? Just let the ashes go with the breeze? Am I obligated to do this as soon as possible, or can I wait for a more opportune time? (I'm on a college campus and I don't wanna get in trouble for pyromania)

Another great question!

Once there has been a substantial change (i.e. the Holy Card turns into ashes) the blessing is removed and so the ashes can be treated like other ashes.

As for a time frame...God does not expect the impossible, but camping is sure fun.
