Laudate_Dominum
Aloysius, I've thought about it.. I think your last post is quite true. I especially like the point about reading sarcasm and things into what someone is saying. I just joined PM and I've never done forums before so I think I do apply my imagination to what the other persons intentions are a bit too much at time. I formally apologize to all those who may have been pained, scandalized, or just annoyed reading certain aspects of this thread. Peace.
PedroX
What about the fact that the mid century abundance of priests in America is really an historical anomaly? Really, when else in history have the majority of parishes had two priests? Just something I've been thinking about lately. I have never heard an orthodox priest suggest that celibacy was the primary factor behind the apparent shortage of vocations. Also, just to ramble a bit. Why do we call it a shortage? The very term implys crisis, and that we know exactly how many priests are needed. Isn't that knowledge reserved for God alone? Surely He knows how many priests we need, and surely He will supply all our needs. peace...
PatrickRitaMichael
Yes, that's true. I asked a good Catholic man at my parish what would happen if we ran out of priests in the US (silly me, I forgot about the rest of the world) b/c I was getting nervous reading all the stuff in the media (biased media...). He said, without priests, there would be no sacraments and God would never let that happen. So now when I start to worry about this, I remember that and I breathe easier -- GOD IS IN CONTROL! HE WILL NOT ABANDON US! WHEW!
