electricdisk
This phorum needs new life. This Sunday at 7:00 I am going up to the strip mall center where they have a non-denominational 'worship service'. I am going to gather young men (women?) who are passionate about Christ and work with them on my latest CD project. While I hadn't specifically planned on my latest project to be 'ecumenical' in the direct sense, it is turning out to be a FULLY Ecumenical project. I suspect that is what God wants anyway, in some respect. For whatever reason, e-mails to the webmaster of this site, e-mails to participants in this forum ... Go completely unanswered - Even after repeated e-mailings! I guess my e-mail server at home and my e-mail server at work *Could* be broken at the exact time I send e-mails - but it is highy unlikely. dUST.... cancel all my posts, delete my account.... I'm outta here.
Aloysius
 ummm..... didgya PM dUST and ask him bout the emails? there very well could be legitamate reasons... maybe dUST's email is broken... i donno... it seems kinda hasty to just run out on us like this :sadder: now, "going protestant" you just mean joinin your work with non-denom rap projects, right? anyway, don't leave PhatMass.... it's an illogical decision... stay and fix what you think needs fixed if u don't like it DONT GIVE UP ON PHATMASS!!!!
IXpenguin21
it's your choice to leave a faith based on an internet comunity... but that's also you making your faith based on the internet... think about it.

electricdisk
now, "going protestant" you just mean joinin your work with non-denom rap projects, right? Correct on this one... Just meaning I find it a HECK of a lot easier to find protestants who are interested in using music to propogate their faith. Therefore, to expedite the release of a CD which includes songs about God, The Angels, Jesus etc.... and a protestant is available 'immediately' over a Catholic who is 'too busy' , 'too smart' or 'uninterested' then that is the way God wants it to be. (guessing here) If I can find a protestant who is willing 'rap about Jesus' in 30 seconds and over 30 freakin e-mails never get answered on the EXACT same topic... Something supernatural is going on, and I am not going to second guess or fight it... Like I said in the post. Maybe it is God's will or something...I cannot understand why repeated e-mails to many, many phatmassers go unanswered or even acknowledged.... electricdisk
it's your choice to leave a faith based on an internet comunity... IX my brother.... I promise I am not 'leaving the flock' based on an internet community... **** I am simply saying that due to circumstances beyond anyone's reasonable expectations (and they are VERY low) that collaborating with other Catholic artists just doesn't seem to be in God's plan right now. That is what I meant by 'Going Protestant' If I could only communicate exactly how many attempts, reattempts continuous attempts to gather support from the Catholic community it would blow your mind. "Dark Night of the Soul?" - you betcha. Any reasonable person would have given up by now. I bet I have sent out over 500 emails, 30 free CD's, asked for 'collaborators', helpers, assistants, ANYTHING to help and all I receive (which is worse) - is absolute ***silence*** I mean - Nothing. No return calls No return emails No acknowledgement of CD's that they got (free by the way) in the mail No response on questions about 'youth groups' (not here but other ones) No response to 'Catholic Youth' websites - (You - the mag) I have been e-mailing them for over 4 years and I have yet to recv a response. Catholic Choir members who pledge support, but it never happens Singers during mass (I get their phone #, address etc) send them a CD and nothing! Catholic internet radio channels - nothing. ******* The thing is, I KNOW FOR A FACT that my e-mails are being delivered, my CD's are being created (and delivered) - follow-up e-mails to just *confirm receipt* are never even bothered with. SOMETHING is going on.... Maybe it is God? Maybe it is the Devil? who knows? All I know is I my meter is 'expired' and I do not have a penny to put into the meter. The fact that Phatmass is a 'Catholic' site makes it even more compounding.... simple e-mail courtesy would dictate a response.

electricdisk
going protestant because people don't respond to your emails...?? Not **REALLY** going protestant (certainly not - just because of e-mail inactivity) This means I am going outside the Catholic community (singers, artists, producers etc...) to gather talent and assistance. I never intended ANY of my musical projects to be 'solo projects'. I had every intention of getting help from Catholic friends, family and community. Unfortunately -after YEARS (yes, years) of trying.... my options are widening to include 'protestant' options. I can go 2 miles from my house and find 20 protestants willing to put together a CD project for god. I can send 500 e-mails 30+ CD's, countless personal interactions and the Catholics are like dead bloated cows. I actually never intended to revisit Phatmass for a while, but I saw many reads and some responses to my original post and decided I would 'Do the right thing' and extend the courtesy of a response. My faith is safe, under the protection of Our Lady's Mantle Don't worry - I'm not THAT irrational to turn protestant :rolling:
Laudate_Dominum
Just meaning I find it a HECK of a lot easier to find protestants who are interested in using music to propogate their faith. I don't know if your still around... Anyway, this statement struck me because maybe you just aren't in the right place or something. There are lots of Catholics who do music. I have many friends who are professional Catholic musicians so I know something about it. If you work with protestants you won't be able to do songs about Our Lady and the Eucharist or anything. Also I saw Fr. Stan Fortuna the other day and it struck me that he has no band!! I don't know if you've ever seen him play but he just played a little something on the bass, recorded it and looped it, added some percussion, looped it, etc. Until he had many tracks going and it sounded really cool. He is his own band, and he does it live on stage. It's just an thought. Peace.

Many of us, from myself to Fiti Futuristic to Pontifex (Ambassador D) to Cross Movement to John Rueben - we've ALL been through it. EMAIL IS NOT THE BEST WAY TO DO THIS. When I get emails like that, I delete em. I read the first line...DELETE.....NOT INTERESTED. If you want my help, CALL ME. Don't PM me, don't IM me, don't email me. I seldom return emails - only to select individuals. pick up the phone and show me that you mean business. Noone's going to be courteous and send you an email reply. It doesn't work that way. Feel me? Pick up the phone and call each one of those contacts. BUG THEM....Call radio people...Call distributors.... DO shows and ESTABLISH YOUR NAME....I don't know you and neither do many of those others. I myself wouldn't put in my time and effort for someone I neither know or know well enough to trust. This is what we call "paying your dues". To me, it sounds like you're taking the easy route and getting upset that people aren't jumping to be on your project. no no no. That's not how it works. If you're going to give up this quickly, you might want to think about a different avenue of ministry, because this NEVER gets better. The only thing you must do is HARD WORK and hope that ONE of those people you email has connections. Again, I say this gruff but in love. Noone took the time to tell me how it is, point blank. I've spent 15 years spinning my wheels and JUST NOW am I starting to get paid and recognized for my work. Take it from an expert....listen to what I'm telling you and do it. Bro, there's no need to reply and say "but I do that!!". I love ya in the Lord bro, but if you were, you'd be doing something with it by now. Keep pressing in and keep doing the leg work. It'll pay off. Fab

dUSt
I have two e-mails from you in my Inbox, and neither of them ask for, or imply that you wanted a reply. One e-mail is dated 12/8, and was an mp3, with nothing else in the body, and the other was on 12/30. I get so many e-mails, I usually only reply to those that specifically ask questions or request a reply. It's just the way it is man. Sorry if I contributed to you leaving phatmass. God bless. electricdisk
Also I saw Fr. Stan Fortuna the other day and it struck me that he has no band!! good point, that helps me stay encouraged. But it almost validates what I am saying ..... he is SOLO. btw, e-mails to him went unanswered too. Now it is looking like more than one person 'just wasn't getting e-mail' - technical issues perhaps? and Fabs point of "don't use e-mail" probably is the correct approach. I just was inspired to add this footnote (holy spirit?): ******************************************************** We have the Eucharist. It is part of being Catholic. For us music is just music. Take it or leave it. Not even really necessary to have a valid mass. However, for someone who doesn't have the Eucharist. Music plays a HUGE part of their worship. Scott Hann even has a name for it "Hymn Sandwich" ... The pastor will speak, then everybody sings, then the pastor speaks again.... I suppose that could explain why there is so much vitality in that arena. Example: OmegaRock.com has their top 30 list and only 3 are Catholic artists, the rest are protestant. *********************************************************** This thread is providing valuable insight.
