the_rev
Can a priest use Eucharstic cannon number two but use the form of consecration of number one, after the invocation of the spirit can a priest just switch from eucharistic prayer two, and start with the intro to consecration of prayer one, "The day before he suffered he took bread into his sacred hands and looking up to you heave to you his almight father, he gave you thanks and praise, broke the bread, gave it to his disciples and said.... etc." Edited February 15, 2007 by Lil Red

bonoducchi
Paragraph 51 of Redemptionis Sacramentum seems to prohibit this. "It is not to be tolerated that some priests take upon themselves the right to compose their own Eucharistic Prayers or to change the same texts approved by the Church, or to introduce other composed by private individuals." Changing the Institution Narrative and consecration seems to be prohibited under this directive. If you want to hear "sacred hands," then use the Roman Canon.
