cmotherofpirl
Cruise 'is Christ' of Scientology By EMILY SMITH US Editor January 23, 2007 COMMENT ON THIS STORY TOM Cruise is the new “Christ” of Scientology, according to leaders of the cult-like religion. The Mission: Impossible star has been told he has been “chosen” to spread the word of his faith throughout the world. And leader David Miscavige believes that in future, Cruise, 44, will be worshipped like Jesus for his work to raise awareness of the religion. A source close to the actor, who has risen to one of the church’s top levels, said: “Tom has been told he is Scientology’s Christ-like figure. “Like Christ, he’s been criticised for his views. But future generations will realise he was right.” Cruise joined the Church of Scientology in the ’80s. Leader L Ron Hubbard claimed humans bear traces of an ancient alien civilisation. thessalonian
Such claims should make Mr. Cruise shudder. Mark 13 21: And then if any one says to you, `Look, here is the Christ!' or `Look, there he is!' do not believe it. 22: False Christs and false prophets will arise and show signs and wonders, to lead astray, if possible, the elect. 23: But take heed; I have told you all things beforehand. Unfortunately it will probably appeal to his inflated ego.

prose
To be fair, it isn't HIM saying he is Christ-like. http://www.tomcruiseisnuts.com Edited January 24, 2007 by prose

MRSannie
hsm, yes, I believe Alec Baldwin promised us he would leave the country, you know, when Bush was elected, and he has yet to make good on the promise! I would think he would have 99% of the votes to be evicted from the planet! Kim Basinger might also be in that 99%!!
God Conquers
Although Alec Baldwin is a political idiot, right now he is one of my favorite actors... he's incredible. The Departed, The Good Shephard, 30 Rock... so funny.
homeschoolmom
If only he would stick to acting.
cmotherofpirl
Why is it when someone becomes a "famous" actor that they have the audacity to think their political opinons are somehow immediately relevant to the rest of us?
homeschoolmom
Because they have a platform to share what they believe is truth. Frankly, if I had such a platform, I would use it too. But it's still anoying how they suddenly become experts on the rainforests, the environment and foreign policy....
