If not, what nationality is the majority of sisters? Also, why did they move to Italy? Is that a permanent locale? I believe the priests are mainly in France (When I went on Pilgrimage to Chartres I met a few American ICK seminarians who were studying in France...) Thanks Lauren [/quote] The official language of the Institute is French and the Sisters primarily speak French as BurkeFan & my friend had a difficult time corresponding because of the language barrier. She also took a "crash course" in French just before she entered. But I don't know for sure if they are originally from France. I believe right now, most of the priests are from European countries (Germany, Italy, France) though I don't know the break-down of where the majority are from. However, the first American priests for the Institute are being ordained here in STL this spring and there are several American candidates in the US right now. Again, I don't know the history of the Insitute, but it seems that Italy seems like their permanent HQ as the Sisters are building a convent there & the seminary is there. I think it's permanent, at least for the motherhouse. The Institute's priests are all over- Europe, America and Africa. Adjusting to religious life is hard enough, but another country's customs and ways are really tough!
