Nathan
I wish I were. But as an ex-neocon who was enthralled with the thought of Bush's core Iraq-pushers, hardcore Zionists all -- Norman Podhoretz, Irving Kristol, Richard Perle, David Frum, Victor David Hanson, Natan Sharansky, Paul Wolfowitz, et al. -- and as a former member of a neoconservative organization, I believe that I know what I am talking about. At the heart of all of America's Middle Eastern escapades since 9/11 is the State of Israel. Zionist intellectuals with deep ties in Washington have been waiting for an excuse to secularize the Islamic Middle East through liberal democracy for many years, starting with its weakest link (Iraq), and the Bush administration and 9/11 provided what has become known as "the neoconservative moment." Finally, the chance to put their hopes and dreams into action, in the name of Israel. For a long time, I actively supported all of this. And then something strange and unexpected happened to me: I realized that this agenda and the mission of Christ and His Holy Church could not be reconciled. My conscience caught up with me, and I found that I could no longer play "Humpty Dumpty," as it were. I praise God for that, and may the same realization be granted to you.
