the soccer FAN base is growing however

for the first time ever, come Summer of 2008: ESPN/ABC will be carrying the UEFA European Football Championship tournament... and every single game at that. all 32 of them. your only way to really watch this tournament in the past in the USA was Pay per view.. now, the sponsors are willing to throw their money at it and pick up the tab.
