megrc
Ok, I have a question about how to explain the Bible to a girl that I know. I am a team leader for a girls club, and at every meeting we read a passage from the Bible. One of the girls always picks one verse from the passage and tries to explain Catholic doctrine based on just that one verse. I don't know how to tell her that the Church doesn't agree with that. I don't know if any of you are gonna understand what I'm talking about, but I need to figure out a way to tell her that the CHurch dosen't explain teachings like that. If anyone understands what I'm talking about, can you please help me!!!!
Pontifex
You may want to rethink your question, and try to articulate it a little bit clearer. I would love to help you. From what you have posted, I think it is always good to hold up to people, young and old, that we use both Sacred Scripture and the writings of the Church Fathers (the lived experience of the Word) in order to understand the Christian Life. I think it would be good to use the Catechism as well. But please do this in a way that doesn't discourage her from reading the Bible. Peace, Fr.
