Sinner
I often read portions of my Bible and understand what I am reading, but do not get the underlying symbology of what I read. Then I am in Mass and receive the blessing of the Priest explaining it..... and voila! .... Now I understand what it is trying to say!! (Yes, my bible has notes, but not explanations of what the verses MEAN.) Is there a book of approved Catholic interpretations of various biblical verses? It would be great to have for myself and for when my children ask.....Daddy, what does that mean???
Pontifex
I would suggest exploring the Jerome Bible Commentary, but keep in mind it is a book for Theologians and a bit difficult to digest. Also the St. Joseph Edition of the New American Bible, has a nice commentary that goes along with the verses. It is the one that I read. I hope this helps, Peace. Fr.
