The sad thing is my friend,u obviously don't know the lyrics behind a band like Metalica,
You think JESUS Will listen to the blasphemy of metalica???? sic.
They are a bunch of satan worshippers, when you support them you support
satan and his plan to destroy the youth.
Todays sinfull society is a direct result of rock music.
You are kidding yourself thinking satan is not working through music
to win some souls, these bands fame comes with a price.

They ALL going to burn in hell, unless they give there lifes to Jesus.
Remeber what Jesus said, there a special place in hell for those
who made his children fall.

If the music we listen to is contrary to the Law, or Word of God, then we are being contrary to the command to be perfect as our Father in heaven is perfect.

And yes Music Artists, or songs which are lustful or degrading to women are also contrary to Christ.

Still Metallica is nothing a Christian should be proud to listen to, what they say in their lyrics is contrary to Christ, rebellion to the things His teaches. Am I wrong, would Christ kick back and listen to the Black Album, or Master of the Puppets? Would He use some of their lyrics to teach, or would he condemn their lyrics?

Be honest.

:ohno: You will never change hearts with such language. Rudeness is also sinful. And contrary to Christ. Your brother is in need of help not condemnation. Which btw you have no right to give. God alone is Judge.

Hows it goin' onathing1? Been waitin to see you in this thread!

Anyways everyone, I still think there is some misconception about the meanings of some of Metallica's songs. Especially from MoP. I dont see the "blasphemy." Maybe cuz there is none.

here's my biggest argument and stance on the issue (cuz people will be complaining about metal until they take away the metal, and all we have left is soft indie pop emo love songs) I'm gonna keep listening to the secular stuff until you can give me something Christian that doesnt sound like garbage. Im sick of the lack of talent in todays world of pop and 'rock' music. If anyone here actually payed attention to these metal lyrics (and avoided trying to twist the meanings so that they can claim the writer means something far from real intentions) they would see that their bias is mostly based on the fact that the style in and of itself is different than the trash out there because its fast or dark or heavy.

I am getting so sick of the fact that this thread still exists. There really is nothing left to say, as is obvious from the fact that Truthseeker isnt even trying to refute us but only damning us to hell. (wait! let me guess, we're damning ourselves to hell!) This is so rediculous.

I listen to music as entertainment. I pray when I pray. If you can pray with your musical entertainment, then more power to you. My rule of thumb for 'Christian music' is that you need to take the music and make it christian, not take the Christian and add music (if that makes any sense.) You cant evangelize with talentless garbage. When the right stuff comes, you let me know. Until then, I'm gonna sit back and enjoy the ingenious, musical guitar solos of Darrel Abbot and Kirk Hammet.

Peace out

good post Didy.

by the amount that truthseeker has actually read our responses i wouldnt be suprised if he had blocked everyone with a contrary veiw.
when ever you have posted a incomplete lyric that hints at satanic messages(and seriously, even incomplete and out of context, most of them are pretty weak) one of us has gone out and researched the whole songs lyrics and posted them, proving that you opinion of the songs meaning is false.

either stop damning us all to hell(i doubt jesus would approve) and start taking our arguments as a valid opposition, or leave.

i feel like im trying to talk to a brick wall with a hearing problem

I agree with everything you say up there. Especially with the whole people hating metal cuz it's metal. Like I said, you can find stuff like this in any genre. For some people just like to beat on Rock.

I'm not sure Christ would listen to Metallica, but quite frankly, I have trouble picturing Him listening to any modern pop/rock/rap.

I'm not sure why Metallica is being singled out here, (other than perhaps their widespread popularity).

I don't really have a problem with most of their lyrics. Their songs are about many different things, and their songs do not all glorify or promote what they describe. (Many actually are against various evils in the world - hypocrisy, horrors of war, abuse of power, drug abuse, etc.)

If Christians want to avoid Metallica, that is fine and good, but there are many much worse influences in the culture.

I had an interesting thought yesterday evening. I was watching a movie w/ techno music (Fast and the Furious), and I noticed how its pulsing affected my heartbeat. I wondered, idly, that if you like a piece of music only for its psychoacoustic affect on you, etc. would that be a hallmark of insidious music? To put the thought opposite, should for music to be good, you have to like it for itself? (Why does language so often fail to convey my thoughts well?)

I find it interesting that most techno songs are recorded at a BPM (beats per minute) of about 120 - ironically, roughly the same pace as the human heart...Interesting...

as long as we have really slow music as well as really fast music, wouldnt there theoretically always be a style of music associated with the same BPM as the human heart?

most of the metallica lyrics can eb taken as bad or portraying simply the darkness, not necessarily promoting it. like master of puppets could be said to portray the harsh reality of drug addiction, or it could be said to glorigy it. i think it's protraying har reality.

there is one song i don't think anyone would argue about it's meaning though. it has a good message in a way overall. but the way it makes the message and words....

if you want to know... look up "so what?" lyrics by metallica in google.

edit: again i reiterate that most of the lyrics prob arent that bad. there's only two that struck my eye offhand as maybe bad. one is am i evil. i think he's really saying he's evil, but i could be misinterpreting it. antoher is "the god that failed". you could say he's talking about frustration and loss of faith, is part of life. but it seems mroe to me he's saying he believes it....

"I see faith in your eyes
Never your hear the discouraging lies
I hear faith in your cries
Broken is the promise, betrayal
The healing hand held back by the deepened nail
Follow the god that failed"
