The "coils" of the snake form "666".
[mod]Personal insult. --Era Might[/mod] america used that during the revolutionary war.
From Encyclopedia Metallica:
The origin of the "Black Album" snake:
The black snake from the black "Metallica" album cover is from the Gadsden flag "Culpepper Minute Men Flag" presented by Philip Gadsden, delegate to the Second Continental Congress, in 1776 showing a coiled rattlesnake with the words "DON'T TREAD ON ME". Commodore Esek Hopkins, United States Navy, flew the flag on all of his ships during that time. Later, during the Civil War, similar flags were adopted by many of the Confederate armies.

"Liberty or Death":
In 1776, when the Americans signed the Declaration of Independence and officially declared war on England, Patrick Henry's words were "give me liberty, or give me death" which can be found in the lyrics as "liberty or death".
"Liberty or death
What we so proudly hail
Want to provoke her,
rattling of her tail . . ."

Love that song!

(And look at it, those coils don't even form any kind of 666!  )

I know they are. That's why I wanted to educate everyone on here about the dangers of most rock music. There are actually Catholics on this forum who like most of these groups too. Just check out the "Metalheads" topic forum. :(

If you were to argue using the evilness of the actual sound of the music then I would have less of a problem with your premise, although I would still strongly disagree. But using the lyrics of a select number of bands you have showed yourself to simply be throwing a blanket statement, an overgeneralization, of all of rock music. I tend to agree with you regarding the bands you posted about, and also about a great many other bands. Which is why I don't listen to such bands. But that doesn't mean I don't listen to rock music. One can listen to rock music and not be exposed to Satanism, or any other sinful experience.

actually the evilness of a song cant really be measured at all. for instance black sabbaths incredibly evil sounding riff fro the song "black sabbath", is mainly using a dissonant tritone or the blues note, which is part of what makes blues bluesy. and the dissonance in many death metal songs to attain the evil sound is much the same as dissonant notes used in jazz. so as far as the choice of notes/melodies makeing songs evil, that would include BB king and Pat methany and other much more accepted artists.

and as far as the songs and bands that he posted, none of the lyrics meant anything satanic, and on occasion where pro christian. in fact all the metal bands he posted contained a christian member and had many christian lyrics in songs. some select bands are very openly anti christian(diecide, black metal as a genre tends to be antichristian) and most bands if they where satanic would have no reason to hide it and would use it to promote their music.

Well of course would be praying to satan since they are the biggest heavy metal band so we know they sold their souls 23 years ago.
Is that about the same time they sold out? :P:

Fixxxer uses that quote every time i say that. But since my goal isnt rational debate, it usually doesn't work. :D:
