scardella
Hrm... That is a hard proposition... Fiction or nonfiction? Offhandedly, part of me wants to say Heart of Darkness by Conrad and Manalive by GK Chesterton, for a nice chiaroscuro effect. Then again, there's always things like True Devotion (anything by de Montfort), Orthodoxy (or anything by the ol' Quotesmith Chesterton), CS Lewis's stuff, LotR, Brothers Karamazov, etc, etc, etc... Then there's the little off-beat stuff... I'd have to concur w/ Asimov there. There's way too many good books to limit yourself to two!
Piccoli Fiori JMJ
Much too difficult to narrow down considering the vast amount of literature yet to be read!
Totus Tuus
Fiction: Michael O'Brien's novels (A Cry of Stone is my favorite ) Nonfiction: Kreeft, CS Lewis, Fulton Sheen, etc., etc., etc. Oooh stuck with two books. Hmm. Maybe the Imitation of Christ (or Transformation in Christ, by Deitrich Von Hildebrand) and maybe... either St. Faustina's Diary, Divine Mercy in My Soul or Ann Catherine Emerich's The Dolorous Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ Edited January 5, 2007 by Totus Tuus

IcePrincessKRS
Zelazny
This is definately a tough choice for me but I have to say, THANK YOU GROO!!!!! I read ONE of the Chronicles of Amber books ages ago and was thinking about trying to find it again and I could not for the life of me remember the author's name (and I only know the titles now because when I recognized Zelanzy's name I looked it up on Amazon.) I am a huge fan of literature in general (I've got a BA in Literature), I would be loathe to be without my Romantic and Victorian lit. books, and I love Dumas' The Three Musketeers (I lauded that as my favorite book for years), and then you've got your Jane Austin, Brontes, Tolkien, Shakespeare (so I like variety) and so on... I think I'd chain myself to my bookshelf if you tried to limit me. lol
Tindomiel
I forgot "Orthodoxy" and Shakespeare. Great stuff.
