sr_betsy
Glory to Jesus Christ! "LOYAL;=unswerving in allegiance:faithful to a cause, ideal, custom, institution (Holy See), or product. How is Loyalty shown? the name catholic, ? gives automatic Loyalty? the Local Bishop hasn't excommunicated you? you have canonical approval?hmmm? belief, practice, what ever you want, just say your Catholic? I am assuming this post 'Loyal to the Holy See', means?? to The Church? Pope, magesterium, The Body of Christ which is the Church.. with respect for someone whom i do not know, everything i see or read from .the Organization it self, Leadership Conference of Women Religious (USA), or critiques from the faithful thereof, seems to be an organ of active dissent,dis-loyalty, radical-feminism, public pride..all primarily from the leaders, and speakers and out of touch with reality.. i wont even get into Joan Chittister.. though perhaps not as sad as up here with the Canadian Religious Conference , which to there credit actually mention the Lord Jesus on their website, their is a first for everything. Yes..the calling is important. call to what?.call to worship God? live for and love Jesus the Christ. all you have to do is compare both main Organizations general assemblies last year...night and day... http://www.lcwr.org/lcwraboutus/missionstatement.htm http://www.lcwr.org/lcwrannualassembly/ass...iesoverview.htm The required Buddhists at american sisters gatherings http://www.lcwr.org/lcwrannualassembly/200...ist%20monks.jpg cute One of the most celebrated cases of dissent was that of Sister Theresa Kane's (known for promoting womens ordination), intervention to John Paul II in October 1979. at the time as president of the Leadership Conference of Women Religious, she addressed the Holy Father during his visit to Washington. He refused to address her. Origins 18 October 1979. and here we have the other, quite different Council of Major Superiors of Women Religious. I ams sure in both organizations there are "many good women', and some bad, but thats not the point.. I was only trying to illustrate that not all orders belonging to LCWR are unloyal, etc. Thank you, sr_betsy
Emile James
Benedictines of Mary, Queen of Apostles, a traditional Catholic community of nuns, can be best described as a monastic community of women. It is our ideal to imitate Our Lady's retirement from the world in quiet seclusion, as well as her apostolic charity. March 2006 we moved from our mother diocese in Scranton, Pennsylvania, to that of Kansas City-St. Joseph in Missouri. With the blessing of our former bishop to transfer, we accepted the welcoming invitation of Most Rev. Robert W. Finn D.D.. Our new bishop has offered firm support and protection of our charism and liturgy, and has approved and encouraged our canonical advancement by erecting our Priory as an official novitiate in keeping with Church's canons. Starets
OOOOOH, I'd never thought of Benedictine life before, until I saw this community. I've particularly thought of going there on retreat. . . until I'm able to discern more directly.
It is a beautiful community, yes. The location is very conducive to contemplation as well. They are planning to move out of the canyon, however. There is not room for two growing communities in the canyon (them and the Abbey of Christ in the Desert). happynun
Thanks, philosobrat for remembering the Salesians as loyal to the Holy Father. St. John Bosco wanted this as part of our charism. It's a hallmark of the Salesian Family, accompanied by a deep devotion to Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament and to Mary, Help of Christians.

I suppose with a name like "Our Lady of the Desert", a move outside the american southwest might require a name change!
