Dr. J Loves The Rwanada Thing

[quote]Dear Jon,
Sounds more "ethnic" then anything else? What nonsense is this? Many Catholic priests and even nuns are guilty of chopping up woman and little Rwandan children and you can say this is just an "etnic" issue?!!? A true Christian should have every area of his or her life governed by the wrod of God and lead by the Holy Spirit, be it there social life, married life, politics, race, etc. The only way these Catholic priests and nuns could massacre innocent and beautiful women and babies is if they were servants of the devil and filled with hatred, which is of course, extremely common for all cult members, despite the nice face they put on in public.
I am sickened to the point of tears and heartache for the precious people in the Sudan who are being tortured and murdered every day, while the Vatican, US Government, SBC, etc, do NOTHING. Our government would rather be inflicting its own torture and murder on innocent Iraq's, in the insane name of "bring democracy to the oppressed" then it would actually save the lives of the precious multitudes in Darfur. I have MANY friends in Africa, namely Kenya, and they can't understand why "white nations" never help them. I tell them the truth, that to "white nations", black Africans are nothing more then disease carrying monkeys who would be better off exterminated. These dear friends don't like to hear such "forward" speech and many times it brings them to tears, but they know it is the truth, else, someone would helpf them!
Well, let me get off my soapbox and shut my yapper. It is just an issue that is so dear to my heart and I absolutely can not tolerate racism of any kind, it makes me sick!
In regards to this article, the truth is, I rarely browse the "news" and when I saw this I just automatically thought of you. I do not send you these things to "insult" or "belittle" you, but simply because i love your soul and do not want you to die in your sins.
I have Muslims, JW's, Mormons, etc that I minister to regularly and if I se something in the news that I think may make them think, I send it. For example, I just got a magazine today that had a picture of Muslims in Britain holding up signs saying "exterminate all who slander Islam" as well as an online article about some former Muslims who are now born again Christians and are giving lectures on their past life of crime (they were assasins) in Islam and new life in Christ, and these would be good to send on to the Muslims i minister to.
I am still waiting for your reply to my refutation of your real presence article, etc, and I am just praying that you have the courage to make the right decision and to serve the God who created and died for you, rather then any man made and cultic organization.
Believe me, if I was still in America and had your address, I would probably be inviting you out to dinner and a discussion any chance I could get, as you have been on my spirit since I first met you, and it seriously breaks my heart to see a young family man, and an intelligent one at that, such as yourself, serving the devil unwittingly and being deceived by a cult.
May the Lord open your eyes before you breathe your last breath.
Have a blessed week and email me anytime about anything.
In Jesus Christ's salvation,
Trevor

First, I would ask for at least a few credible sources that back up those accusations. Then I would point out the fact that the Rwandan massacres are not perpetrated by Catholics alone - find some credible sources that show this. Then I would say that, in the same way that Protestants as a whole are not doctrinally wrong or damned because some protestants have massacred people in Rwanda, neither is Catholicism doctrinally wrong, nor Catholics damned, because of the part Catholics have played in those massacres.

All of that having been said, I would then emphasize the fact that, whether Protestant or Catholic, the things happening in Rwanda are terrible, and we ought to be doing more to stop it. Tell him that you appreciate his prayers, and that you are praying for him as well.

Your Brother In Christ,

Jeff

Two typos/grammatical errors in the first four lines.... charity may be a virtue, but I don't know if I can read on...

What Jeff said... pray for him!

Sorry to be a bumb and not to have responded more often. Currently, I am job hunting, FBC etc.

My response to this...

1. Agree with him where he is correct: If nuns/priests are guilty for butchering kids, they should be punish as such. In doing so, they are not really Christians.

2. Remind him the of some of the wartime confusion that could be going on. For example, a convent owns a hospital, what has become prime realestate. They provide medical assistance to all who come for help. If the healed then go out and comitt war crimes, some courts would convict the nuns of assisting killers. (I doubt this technique will really work on him, but it is true).

3. Show him some of the speaches by the Church against such actions, particularly in Africa.

If he returns to the USA, he can take me to dinner also
