Brother Adam
Have you ever seen the infamous "Jesus" film. It's been translated into over 800 languages and seen by more people than any other film. I'm wondering how the Catholic Church felt about the film. Brother Adam
I'm not talking about the Mormon one. That one and this one has nothing to do with each other. This one is from Campus Crusade

littleflower+JMJ
im not sure about that one, but one im VERY sure of is the mel gibson movie, "the Passion" its going to be something like nothing ever done before!! http://www.thepassionofthechrist.com/splash.htm and this is going to be one very special told because he followed very closely the "Dolores Passion" by St. Anne Catherine Emmerich and "City of God" by Sister Mary Agreda 37 days till opening day!! ^_^
IcePrincessKRS
I don't know anything about it Adam. Sorry! If I did I would definately give you some input, though.
PedroX
Bro Adam, I actually was part of a mission team that showed the film in rural Uganda. It was actually a tragic experience in cross cultural miscommunication. People wanted to know "Why, if you saw this, did you not try to save Him (Jesus)" or "did this just happen?" All sorts of questions because they had never had film explained properly to them. I found myself wishing I'd never left my native mid-west. I just pray I didn't do more harm than good. Structurally, the fim is a resonable adaption of the NIV. The production value leaves a bit to be desired. peace...
foundsheep
Are you guys talking about the one that came in the mail, The one I got I watched and gues what? He didnt get his crown of thorns. I thought that was odd.
Brother Adam
The more I learn about the Passion the more I'm not so sure about it... Why end the movie at his death? Why not continue to his resurrection. Without telling the whole story you leave the gospel entirely incomplete. I believe, it is a different gospel. Brother Adam
Pedro, I don't think you should ever show the film without being able to tell those watching what is going on. Like the man on the road to Damascus Paul had to explain what the man was reading.

PedroX
Bro Adam, The problem was more that film was inherently un-explainable to them. No matter how we tried to explain movies, and "fiction" it didn't seem to help. I'm sorry, the film might be a good tool in the "developed" world, but definitely not in the third world. peace...
