I know this is somewhat off the topic but anyway. I just went to the community penance service saturday and I got stuck in the confessinal. It was one of those that is pitch black and has small screen for the priest to talk though. Yeah I tried to get out but I couldn't find the door knob so my poor mom had to open the door for me and I could here the priest having a good chuckle cuz so many young people get "stuck" in there because they can't find there way out. trust me you should of heard me trying to get out saying "mom i'm stuck in the confessinal." when I did get out the crowd gave me a round of applause.

Birgitta Noel

I was at Adoration one night and had my phone on silent . . . or so I thought! It turned out it was on speaker phone. I was kneeling in the darkened Church and one of the Brothers was leading a meditation. All of the sudden my phone (set on the highest volume of course too!) starts SAYING: "Incoming call from . . ."

I lept across that pew so fast that not even the phone knew what hit it!

Brother chuckled and didn't miss a beat and said in his meditative voice, not to worry to just keep praying that it was just my (yes he used my name) cell phone.

I wanted to crawl under the pew, I was so embarrassed. :pinch: I always make a conscious move to turn off the phone. But I learned something new about my phone that night. If it's on speaker, even when it's set to silent, it speaks up!

And now I have one of those jobs (health care) where I HAVE to answer my phone in weird spots. In fact, now I carry TWO cell phones. UGH

As for taking them to mass, just put em on silent! Though there are some folks who are just dumb about it. Leaving them in the car can be troublesome because then you might forget it later and you don't want to leave it on the seat in plain view!

I have decided that it is a Law of Nature that cell phones can only go off at awkward times...

I was in a Church praying yesterday for about an hour and I was alone for most of the time.
I had the a cell phone on me which i thought was on silent, but turned to be all the way up. The minute an old couple comes in and sits down... "RING RING"
I nearly smashed it

OMG! I could not imagine that happening.

The only pet peeve I have about cell phones is dropped...

lol.

At my Confirmation, the SAME cell phone went off like 3 times. You would think they would be embarrassed enough about the first and then the second time that they would at LEAST put it on vibrate???

:lol_pound: I would laugh histerically if I ever saw someone SMASH their phone for ringing. :rolling:

I've had people walk in on me. I've also had a priest laugh uncontrollably at me.

A priest laughed uncontrollably at you during confession!? :o

I had mine go off once in the middle of a wedding, when I was sitting next to my pastor's son (Protestant church) who was really cute ... it was deep in my coat pocket, and set to REALLY loud, but it was all tangled up and I couldn't get to it. Finally I found it, and was trying to turn it off, and instead of turning it off it ANSWERED and I could hear my friend saying, "Hello? Abby?"

Nowadays, I almost always have mine on silent. It means I miss 95 percent of my calls ... but I'm so often in class or unavailable anyway that I don't let it bother me. Plus, I figure that's why I have voicemail

I accidentally called someone while they were in the confessional once, and they ANSWERED it. I was like, "Hi how are you, where are you at?" and he replied, "In confession." :annoyed: "Seriously?" "Yes." :sadder:

**awkward moment** :idontknow:

Wow!
I work at a Wal-Mart and I have walked into the men’s room and often heard people gabbing away on their cell while sitting in the stall – as if they can’t wait to open their big mouth and talk yet again for a brief moment…
And yes, I do view people who feel that answering the phone every-time and any-place have a big priority issue, and a social issue to the level of needing brutal therapy.

But actually bothering to answer the cell-phone call while in a confessional takes the cake.

like in the movies, has anyone ever seen a cell go off in a wedding or a funeral? they are both akward as heck even if it isnt yours. one guys had his phone with an ashlee simpson ringtone (embarrassing enough really) go off during my own grandfathers wake. and since he couldnt find it quick enough the song stopped playing for a second and he relaxed, then it started again. oops! oddly it brightened the mood of the reception quite a bit, my grampa would have liked that.

i had to have a phone during my stay in guatemala, and after endless akward conversations(i swear i must be going deaf or something it was so quiet), rings in akward places and the exorbitant price ill be glad to never see one again. dont know how you lot stand em

I used to work with a woman who talked on her phone in the bathroom. I never got the reason that those conversations had to happen at that particular time and place ... rude.

I'm also on board with those who think it's rude for someone to take a phone call while you're in the car with someone, or really while you're with someone else in general. Although I can't say I've never done it, I really try not to because it bothers me so much when other people do it to me.
