Has anyone have their cell phone go off during Confession?

Or any other distracting measure?

Odd question that has been lingering.

I don't have a cell phone, but once while borrowing one, it went off during an awesome homily, and I felt so embarassed having to walk out of the church this it. I had it on vibrate actually, and I don't think others knew. But it disturbed me so much that I had to take it out and answer it, or at least stop it.

cell phones going off at inappropriate times is a pet peeve of mine. Especially if the person ANSWERS it... like at the movies.

Okay.... I have to ask how you handled that (as the confessor, not the confesser)....

It was on vibrate, so it was not that loud, I merely apologized, took out the phone, and turned it off. I use it as my clock, and I normally do not get many calls during that time, but , of course, as with anything, the phone will never ring when it should, and always at the most inopportune time :)

I accidentally called someone while they were in the confessional once, and they ANSWERED it. I was like, "Hi how are you, where are you at?" and he replied, "In confession." :annoyed: "Seriously?" "Yes." :sadder:

**awkward moment** :idontknow:

I HATE cell phones... why must people even bring them into the church??? Like what is the point, cant they leave it at home or in the car for 15mins for confession, or 1 hr for mass?

What I hate about cell phones is when I'm riding in a car with someone and they answer their phone and have a really long conversation. I'm TRAPPED there, trying not to listen, but with NOTHING else to do... it's even worse if the person replays the conversation for me after they hang up.... :ohno:

I had my cell phone (when I had one) go off in the middle of EASTER VIGIL!! And my husband's (boyfriend at the time) uncle was the one saying Mass. How embarrassing.

Then this year I borrowed a cell phone because my phone wasn't connected in my new house, and I forgot about it until I was in Mass.

Neither of these incidents were vibrate by the way.

I am VEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERY careful about being judgemental about people and cell phones. I think they are embarassed over them going off. And if they answer them, I assume that they are either a doctor or someone is dying ;)

You've never been at a movie where someone's phone RINGS and they answer it and start talking?

I know this is somewhat off the topic but anyway. I just went to the community penance service saturday and I got stuck in the confessinal. It was one of those that is pitch black and has small screen for the priest to talk though. Yeah I tried to get out but I couldn't find the door knob so my poor mom had to open the door for me and I could here the priest having a good chuckle cuz so many young people get "stuck" in there because they can't find there way out. trust me you should of heard me trying to get out saying "mom i'm stuck in the confessinal." when I did get out the crowd gave me a round of applause.

If you'd had a phone with you, you could have called for help.
