What Am I To Say To My Family?

Paladin D

My family time to time, rebukes demons and such. A few questions...

- What should I say to them, that personally rebuking demons (talkin to them) is dangerous?

- What can I use to back up my claims?

- What should I tell them what to do?

The Rite of Exorcism is reserved solely for the order of the Church, that is the priesthood. However, if your family, in the form of prayer speaks, asking that certain demons be bound by Jesus and cast away in the name of Jesus, I don't think that is dangerous. We do not dialogue with evil, in the sense of talking to demons. We can ask that they be bound in the name of Jesus. If this involves some sort of movement that is more serious, like a possession, obsession, or domination, than a priest must be notified.

I hope this helps.

A prot won't like the idea of having a priest do it... If your in a dangerous position, just tell them It's a lot easier to call an exorcist because he's trained to do it...

So for example, this would be a poor example? "How dare you! I have authority over you! I bind you up in the name of Jesus! You have no right to be hear!"

I'm not sure what a good example would be. Maybe such as this?

"I claim the full victory that my Lord Jesus Christ won on the Cross for me. Having disarmed the powers and authorities, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross" (Col. 2:15) His victory for me is my victory.

In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ I renounce all the workings of Satan in my life in all its forms, whether brought into my life by my actions or by others. I break all attachments, ground, curses, spells, and rights Satan may have in my life whether such ground was gained through my actions or through others. Strengthened by the intercession of the Immaculate Virgin Mary, Mother of God, of Blessed Michael the Archangel, of the Blessed Apostles Peter and Paul, and all the Saints and Angels of Heaven, and powerful in the holy authority of the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I ask you Lord to command Satan and all his minions, whomever they may be, to get out of my life and stay out. With that authority I now take back the ground in my life gained by Satan through my sins. I reclaim this ground and my life for Christ. I now dedicate myself to the Lord Jesus Christ; I belong to Him alone. Amen.

When the Apostles saw someone casting out demons in Christ's name, who was not one of them, it upset them, but Jesus instructed the Apostles to let him go on doing it...right?

Whoever isn't against us, is for us, so to speak?

And yeah, we can bind up evil spirits, too, by using holy water. Exorcism by a bona fide exorcist is needed in cases of demon possession.

But we couldn't possibly expect an exorcist to come running every time we sensed evil about us...There is great power in the Holy Name of Jesus.

I would not rebuke your family for using Christ's name to dispell evil from their midst. (Though, I might privately follow through with some holy water afterward!!!)

Holy water has had powerful prayers of exorcism prayed over it. Christ gave His Church authority over demons. ;)

Pax Christi. <><

my two pennies:

Acts 19

14 Seven sons of Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, were doing this.

15 One day the evil spirit answered them, Jesus I know, and I know about Paul, but who are you?

16 Then the man who had the evil spirit jumped on them and overpowered them all. He gave them such a beating that they ran out of the house naked and bleeding.

I think it has to do with 1.) discernment. and 2.) the will of God.

Pal, you should caution your parents. But most of all pray for them. If they do not have the backing of God (and His Church), then yes this may be very dangerous.

When I was young, my grandmother told me that if ever a dark dog is coming toward you growling, to look it straight in the eye and say "I rebuke you in the name of Jesus Christ." She said that her father (or uncle), a preacher, told her to do this, and it had worked for her.

Years later, late at night, a large black dog was coming toward my cousins and me, growling, showing his teeth, as soon as I finished saying "I rebuke you in the name of Jesus Christ", the dog turned around and went to lay under a truck. My cousins were amazed that this had worked.

Rebuking them, should not be a problem, but "binding" them I think is something that should not be said. Black magic and satanists "bind" demons to do their bidding. To rebuke them would be to tell them to flee... to bind them sounds like they're trying to inprison them.

God Bless,

Wowwwwwwwwww amesome...

I wonder if this would work for growling, light-colored dogs as well? ;)

If ever I'm in that situation, I will certainly do just that!!!

It must be done in faith, not to just "see if it'll work"... just as Jesus told men that it was their faith that saved them... I was about 15 at the time... I had faith to be saved from a mean dog, to bad I don't have faith to move mountains or walk on water... but I'm trying to get there.

God Bless!!!

hyperdulia again

Demons are not lurking behind every corner...I have noticed this tendancy with Pentecostals, in particular, to see direct demonic activity involved in everything bad or even simply unpleasant. Satan and demons are finite beings. The devil can't be directly everywhere. His little minions can't be EVERYWHERE, there's only so many of them to go around.
