Eucharistic Procession On A College Campus

Thy Geekdom Come

So my friends at the Newman Center at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln hooked me up with this video through You Tube. It is definitely cool. The procession had the priest carrying the Jesus in the monstrance under a canopy, seminarians in cassocks, and around 200 students in it, all chanting and singing. They went by the stadium, the libraries, the dorms, frat row (the frats were busy making floats and playing heavy metal and having huge parties)...I wish every college campus on earth did this:

I can't believe you used "shizzzznick" to describe a Eucharistic procession. (Does shizzzznick have a different meaning than it's counterpart that ends with a "t"?)

Ditto.

Nice music selections -very epic. From what seminariy are the men? Looks like an excellent array of cassocks and surplices.

Thanks for the post.

Lincoln, eh? I bet some Fraternity of St. Peter folks were there as well, then. That part of Nebraska is the beating heart of the traditional movement in the United States IMHO.

There may have been. The FSSP doesn't usually come out into the diocese much, from my experience.

Lincoln is a pretty good diocese. They need a nicer cathedral (boy is theirs ugly) and they need to cut out the cliquish "our parish against yours" stuff (never experienced it, just heard about it a lot from those who belonged to normal parishes, since I was at the Newman Center and didn't deal much in the diocese at large).

Pretty good!?! <_<

The FSSP weren't there. We had Knights honor guard though, which included a friend of Micah and me. I do agree about the cathedral. It's too modern. I don't know about the parish cliques. There is some friendly rivalry that I know of, but that's about it.

Talk to your pastor, write your bishop, write the seminary rector, let them know you'd like to take-part in a Eucharistic procession in the city.

Yes, the cathedral is very ugly. I saw it when I went to the FSSP ordinations this summer...

By the way, I LOVE Eucharistic processions, and this looked like a really awesome one. I do sometimes wonder though if we do it to be seen, or perhaps we need to be seen to evangelize, hmmm?
