I can't believe this is the first time I have seen this thread - where have I been?

Anyhow, I'm going to have to try that Iso Bouncy Cream. Is it just for naturally curly or what? Mine is naturally wavy if I let it drip dry but it usually frizzes if I don't put it up to dry, so I usually tie it in a sprial knot after my shower. Then after it dries I can let it down into a really really long spiral ponytail (my hair is the longest it has ever been in my life now). Unfortunately my hair is really thin, so blow drying and using other curlers/stylers and some shampoos break up my hair. I'm now using the Brilliant Brunette shampoos and my hair has stayed split-end and damage-free for over a year! (I think not using a blowdryer helps though)

You can use it for naturally curly hair, perms, wavy hair. I even knew a couple girls who have straight hair who used it to add body (they used to be friends with my sister). :) I've tried the Brilliant Brunette, too, and really liked it, but I switch it up every couple of times I buy shampoo just to get rid of any build up that may be accumulating. I think thats my favorite "over the counter" shampoo and conditioner (Redken All Soft is my favorite salon product).

Do any of you know how to bring out natural red highlights in your hair? I know if I stay out in the sun my hair will turn a dark auburn, but I'm not out in the sun very much. An old friend who was Lebanese told me to rinse my hair in this special concoction, consisting of either lemon juice or apple cider vinegar, something like that, to bring out your natural red highlights. She had the most beautiful black hair that shined red. Anyone know about this?

Lemon is for blonde highlights, I thought. I've heard that cranberry juice works for red. That was a long time ago, but as I recall a hairdresser once told my older sister if she used a spritzer bottle and put some cranberry in her hair before going outside it would bring out the natural red highlights... I'll have to look it up and see if I can find anything more specific than that.

NATURAL HAIR COLORING

Dark Hair
Dark Haired beauties can create a temporary color with tea, walnuts and coffee.
* Brew a strong tea and use a final rinse. Boil one cup of chopped walnuts with one cup water. Strain the liquid and pour over head. Leave on thirty minutes before shampooing. Brew and espresso or other strong coffee. Add to dry hair. Leave on thirty minutes before shampooing out. This will add sparkling highlights to black or brown hair.
* Combine 1/2 cup vinegar with 1/4 cup soy sauce to give highlight and subtle coloring to dark hair. The soy sauce not only has protien for strenght, but also brown pigment. Leave on fifteen to twenty minutes. Wash out thoroughly.
* use 1/2 cup cranberry juice as final rinse to enhance red hair or create a subtle red highlights to dark hair.

Light Hair
Brew a cup of very strong chamomile tea. Let it cool to lukewarm. Spray or comb into dry hair. Leave on twenty minutes (if possible sit in the sun). Shampoo and rinse. This gives a color lift and subtle highlights to blonde and light brown hair.

is that bringing out natural highlights or adding some subtle ones? i know dyes from all sorts of things will give you "highlights"

i have those red highlights and i only get them in the sun or in the right light. my mom used to use this stuff when i was little... ill have to ask her what it was. it worked well i think at enhancing them so that they stayed even when you werent in the bright sunlight.

Oh...and I just now saw this... but thanks! I think I'm gonna let it grow out some and see if I like it. ^_^

If not, I can just chop it off again. :)
