Filioque Resources

N/A Gone

Awesome discussion

From that discussion I wrote a paper, and from that paper my school wants me to develop my internship on a formal paper about this issue of the Filioque. Development from the Ecumenical councils and the relations it has currently

Now my question, dear phatmassers. Is sources. Those who spoke on this thread knew their stuff. Hardcore. I need you to be the source of the source and give me some sources. Not internet blogs, but actual books, documents and tangable things of that nature.

Not to flash, but money is not much of an issue here. If I need to order/buy them I will. If you are willing to mail them then I will pay.

I have pm'd some people on this issue. But never heard a response. Sorry if this is the bad place for this.

Well, Augustine's De Trinitate is a classic. I would also recommend St. Anselm of Canterbury's De Processione Spiritus Sancti, as St. Anselm is (to my knowledge) the only Doctor of the Church who himself lived through the Schism. I can send you the pdf file of this text if you can't find it in print.

hmm, I will need to check it out.

Most likely I am interested in books. Actual academic research on it. Those of you who have been through a class on it must have either read a book or had a teacher mention a book.

Im waiting for our eastern-friends to comment on here. L_D better have a shoppin cart waiting for me.:D

I pm'd Sean twice...to be fair, he is probably working on the wedding..

someone needs to lecture him on priorties..;) The wife can plan while you post. It trains them for when they cook while you do theology..:D

Nick, could you ask a teacher perhaps. If you have one that knows anything on the filioque, I need academic books. Most of my teachers have never heard of the filioque.

Tangent:

Is the icon named the Trinity by Rublev a promotion of the Filioque? In it the Father points to the son, the son points to the spirit, and the spirit point back to the table/alter. You might be able to use the icon in another talk for school.

Yea, I can only think of 2, maybe 3 that have. Only 1 of them knows anything really about it and he ironically is the teacher I am doing the project with. So for giggles he wont help me. :S

Why would a protestant know it.? The term "creed" is often not used, rather they consider them "early christian statements of faith" about as authoritive as your latest blog. Thus, something like the Nicean creed is not worth while learning. Trying to abid by it is viewed as a an authorive body denying you the human will to have legit faith.

Ecumenical church councils are considered as every church (*by church they think denominations, or free churches non connected in creed-doctrine) trying to stop a major controversy. But they are not truely authoritive.

this is my world...
