DAF
Hey guys, I'm sorry I haven't been around here recently, I've been pretty busy. BUT I've got great news! I got accepted to the University of St. Thomas MN! I just got the letter in the mail today. So the hard part is over, now I just need to submit my app to the seminary and wait for acceptance or rejectance, but I'm not very worried about that, because my VD said I'm practically guarenteed a spot. So, I guess, if God wills it, I'll be headed up to SJV @ UST in the Fall! Anyway, thanks so much for all your prayers! God is good all the time!! in Christ, Mason

Moneybags
Great! I went to the Vianney Visit last week and went home and finished my application there. That's where I want to go. I loved it there. I wrote about it on a blog: http://holyvocations.blogspot.com/2006/11/...ey-college.html
DAF
Hey, thanks everybody! I'm pretty excited about going in the Fall. It's a huge weight off my shoulders. Benedict: Isn't the seminary great? I think their chapel could go a little less 'modern,' but beggars can't be choosers I suppose. About the Cathedral, I thought it was awesome too! When I went, it was only me and one other buddy of mine (who you'll probably be meeting in the Fall, God willing lol), so we got a guided tour into the sacristy and all that by Fr. Baer. It's awesome though, even from the outside it's breathtaking. I think it really conveys the grandeur that is only fitting for a domus Dei. Did you guys go see the Basilica too?? THAT's where I'm going to be spending MY Friday nights. lol Anyway, maybe we'll be meeting in the Fall if God wills it. That's pretty cool that I'm getting to know some guys going up there before the year even starts. lol You all are in my prayers, and thanks for all of yours in Christ, Mason Edited November 26, 2006 by DAF
aalpha1989
I have been on a college visit to UST, I even bought a hoodie . I havent visited the seminary, specifically, though. It sounds great! I loved the basilica too. It was amazing, I actually liked it more than the national basilica in Washington. I've thought about going to UST, but it's kinda expensive. I loved St. Paul though! Thats an amazing city, I would love to spend college years there. I've thought about going to a college seminary, but my diocese doesnt send people to Minnesota for seminary. Anyway, best of luck to you! I'm jealous!
DAF
I've nevre visited the National Basilica, though I do want to some day, like a pilgrimage. Thanks for reminding me! I need a hoodie, now that I'm a Tommie and all. Yeah, UST is kind of expensive. Even with 1/3 of my tuition just paid off by the Diocese and another 1/3 forgiven by the college for being at the seminary, I'm still responsible for a healthy chunk of change. Ask Eddie too. Well, I'm going to go order my hoodie. Aalpha, what diocese are you going to study for? Edited November 26, 2006 by DAF
aalpha1989
Kansas City, Kansas is where I'm from....but I'm not sure that I want to stay in this diocese. I might want to find an order to join so I'm probalby just going to go to a Catholic college and major in philosophy, then move on to a major seminary. I'm interested in Lincoln, Nebraska also. We'll see. I've heard good things about Gregory the Great Seminary College in Lincoln. I'm probably going to check that out. Anyway I do love my hoodie. Incidentally, the school I go to is called St. Thomas Aquinas so sometimes I wear my STU hoodie instead of my 'uniform' hoodie.....no one notices. : oops, double post what diocese are you from? Moneybags
I didn't visit the Basilica when I was in St. Paul, though. I did love the seminary and the Cathedral, though. I guess I'll have to visit that sometime next fall hopefully when I'm a UST seminarian as well.
DAF
Aalpha, you should mosey on over to the Archdiocese of Denver here. We're the best. Everybody is envious of us. We have ABC (Archbishop Chaput) Benedict, it's awesome. It's not as big, but about as glorious as the Cathedral. (dare I say, more glorious?) aalpha1989
Hmm I just figured out that the Cathedral and the Basilica in St. Paul werent the same thing! Imagine that...... So I saw the Cathedral, NOT the basilica. but I loved the Cathedral. Ha, I figured it out. I've actually only been to Denver once, when I was like six or something. I dont remember anything except the Rockies game. They were playing LA and Piazza had three homeruns....the rockies lost....but that sounds interesting. I met someone from Denver, she goes to Regis. She was my group leader on a retreat. She was really cool.
