While listening to "Deus Caritas Est" during my drive home for Thanksgiving today, I got to thinking that I'd like to learn about this document and/or "Theology of the Body" and thought it would be cool to dig into them with a group of people. Seems like I've heard of people having discussion groups on papal encyclicals. Is there are certain structure that works well or resources that are good, perhaps a commentary or something that connects the document with Scripture and Tradition?

While I agree with all the Church's teachings, I don't know much about the "why" behind them. I'd really like to invite anyone who's also interested, whether they agree or not, Catholic, Protestant, Deist, or whatever.

1. Open your home to a reading, or use a parish classroom.

2. Have atleast one person reading the bible everytime BXVI cites a scripture.

3. Ask a senior (teacher, priest, decon, bishop) to sit in and comment.

4. Invite everyone.

there are alot of good resources out there both on the theology of the body and on deus caritas est. for example, there are organized study groups on JPII's Love and Responsibility. see:
