catholicinsd
Would punching Fred Phelps be immoral or not? I know I'd pay good money for the prevalinge.
homeschoolmom
Probably... I mean, under what circumstance? Does he act like a jerk deserving of a good punch in the schnoz? Oh, yes, without a doubt. But, sadly, we don't get to give everyone everything we believe they deserve.

Aloysius
using force to get him away from the funeral may be considered morally acceptable, IMHO. a random punch for no purpose other than anger, no that's not acceptable. but driving him away, as Jesus did to the moneychangers in the temple with a whip, would be perfectly justifiable. Era Might
Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God; for it is written, "Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord." No, "if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals upon his head." Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. --Romans 12:19-21
Sojourner
Ever watched "The Laramie Project"? It's a play and also a movie which tells the story of the effects of the murder of a gay man on the city of Laramie, Wyo. Phelps (or people like Phelps & Co.) were protesting at the trial, and friends of the man who was killed donned angel suits and stood in a line to counter the Phelps message. Here's a picture from a production of the play: That to me seems like a more appropriate response than punching him.
And you would end up paying good money, because from what I hear one of the daughters is a lawyer and the way they fund themselves is through lawsuits. If Phelps were younger, you could challenge him to a boxing match, but since he is in his seventies, it might not be good press punching out an old man. Socrates
I'd say no more or less immoral than punching out some "gay rights" activist. Personally, I think there's lots of people who deserve to be punched out.
Ever watched "The Laramie Project"?
