I recaptured it thanks. Oh, and Augustine is patron of brewers because most of the monks brewing in Germany (before der Luther) were Augustinian monks.

Yeah, but its still cool! :)

If I were a nun, I'd want to be like her! :) She's cool, too! One year for our parish All Saints day party we dressed up my little sister as St. Catherine. We rigged up the veil part using hangers, pencils, fabric, paper, and tape. :haha: It came out pretty darn good, I must say.

There you go. Now the Sacred Heart is what I'm all about. Seriously, except for the fact that we look nothing alike . . . I would say we were brothers . . . well, and then there is that Democrat thing . . .

Sacre Coeur rocks! - seriously He got me through so much I know I couldn't have done on my own. The warmth and love and grace that pours out of this devotion is sooo amazing and If I ever became Pope, I think my Coat of Arms would just be a huge Sacred Heart. lol.

bro if we were both republicans then it would eliminate an insult factor

I'm fairly new to the idea of asking a saint to pray for you about something specific but I had the most amazing example of this happening this week and don't think I'll ever question it again! A friend of mine has been trying to move out of a very difficult situation, buying and selling a house in a chain involving seven different people. The legal stuff has been going on for months and months and the stress has been dreadful. Yesterday her solicitor told her that once again the contracts would not be exchanged that day - it was about an hour before all the firms closed for business. So I decided to go and pray for a miracle and asked St Rosa of Lima to pray too - my friend is Peruvian and originally from Lima. Literally ten minutes after I had finished praying the solicitor rang to say that all contracts had been exchanged and a moving date has been set - on my friend's birthday! :D :D

I've been happy dancing ever since!

Thank you St Rosa for praying, and our Father for listening and answering our prayers!

St. Rose of Lima is my patron/birth saint.  :hearts: :hearts:

She's amesome!

btw,  marielapin, that's a really cool advatar. I've been looking online everywhere for a Joan of Arc advatar and can't seem to find any. Where did you find that one ( promise i won't steal it)?

I own the poster, and it is huge, like 2 1/2' by 4'. I bought it off ebay and the same guy I bought it from had another one up for sale. So I edited that picture to make it smaller. The poster is amesome. Let me see if I can find it again so you can see the full picture.

Wow How do you compare to that post!

BTW my favorie saints at the moment (the previous 3 years) are St. Issac Jogues (my avatar) and Companions.

Hard core evangelists, Some tortured by indians, some martyred, and of course Jogues, who was first tortured, escaped, and then came back to evangelize some more, then he was martyred

I am also a fan of:

St. Lawrence

St. Francis

Maximillian Kolbe

St. Margaret Mary

St. Peter

St. John the beloved

btw.. old testament hero.. David! A Man after God's own heart

amesome poster!!!

Joe, St. Issac Jogues is amesome! I read his story when I was like 10 or 11, and being from upstate NY have been to the Auriesville Shrine of the N. American Martyrs which is on the ground that he and his companions walked on! At this one area theres a valley (it used to be a river bed) and its all shady with lots of trees around and I remember it as very green, its sooo cool and calm. As I recall (its been awhile since I read his story, and years since I went to the shrine) thats where they believe his remains are (or is it his companion(s)?). Its an amazing experience.

I found this quote, the description is really neat, just how I remember it being.

"Walking down the pathway into the ravine at Aurisville where it is said Rene was murdered, one knows why pilgrims come especially to the ravine, and will always come there. For it is in the ravine that one senses something of God - some touch, some peace, some blessing. This place does not attract the sensation seeker, looking for the morbid or the macabre. Rather, one finds that the earth there, sown in red seeds, has brought forth a verdant, shimmering landscape Pope Pius XII called "Nature's Reliquary." "

I went to Auriesville two years ago. I have relatives in Schenectady, NY

It is such a holy place, and not many people visit it as a shrine.

Probably since there is no Basilica there or the like. I have to say. It was the trip down the ravine, and the reflection you do, that really inspires you to have couragous faith.

Even though they were French, we Americans really need to look at them more and pray for their intercession. They did shed their blood for Christ there. Not to mention Blessed Kateiri.

My favorites include all the Carmelite saints (Teresa of Avila, Juan del la Cruz, Edith Stein). I love Carmelite spirituality.

I also have a great love for St. John the Evangelist. I love reading that gospel. Since we were married on the feast of St. Nicholas, my wife and I have taken him as our patron saint. Also, since she's from the Philippines, we have much love for St. Lorenzo Ruiz.

But, I have very very much love for the Little Flower. Her intercession has always been there when I needed it, and she has always given me a red rose when needed. She'll always have a dear place in my heart.

Oh my goodness, I completely forgot about them. I went to their shrine in Canada. Those guys rock.

Well, my favorite Saint, Saint Jude's prayers worked again! I asked him for his intercession that I do well on my biology quiz and I got a B! Which didn't affect my A that I so achieved, but don't deserve!
