Quote:The Nativity Story will premeire....at the Vatican.

The Nativity Story will become the first film ever to premiere at the Vatican, the film's distributor has announced. The film, which is due to be released December 1, will be shown on Sunday, November 26 at the Vatican's Pope Paul VI Hall to an audience of appproximately 7,000 invited guests, including director Catherine Hardwick, actors Shohreh Aghdashloo and Oscar Isaac, producers Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey, and screenwriter Mike Rich. The screening will benefit the construction of a school in Mughar, Israel, 40 miles from Nazareth. Rolf Mittweg, New Line President and COO of Worldwide Distribution and Marketing, said of the film, "We are very proud of The Nativity Story and extremely grateful that the Vatican has embraced the film in this way," says Mittweg. "We believe it is the perfect venue to present the film's universal message of hope and faith, a message we are sure will resonate around the world."

Interestingly, the press release makes no mention of Keisha Castle-Hughes, the 16-year-old actress who plays Mary in the film -- who, it was announced last month, is now herself pregnant out of wedlock. I'm curious whether Castle-Hughes was invited to the Vatican affair; I would sincerely hope that she was, and that she herself chose not to attend for whatever reason.
Amazing how ALL the characters that star in these Roman Catholic DEVOTIONAL FILMS, are either porn stars { most were soft core in Mel Gibson's classic, the PASSION OF THE CHRIST } or like this one, living lives that DIRECTLY contradict the saintly roles they are playing on film....

you exhibit signs of your father, satan, the great accuser.

if you are sinless, stone her and shun her and keep her out of religious movies. otherwise, shut the hell up; if you are in real personal contact with this person then you may wish to help her understand non-marital sex is wrong, but here you serve no purpose other than to calumnize someone you don't even know for a sin you have no idea about the situation involved.

OH MY GOSH! That is the last straw. This proves once and for all that the Catholic Church is a fraud. Good job, budge. And thank you for saving us all. I'm assuming that everyone here will leave the Church in the face of this overwhelming evidence.

Thy Geekdom Come

I've heard nothing about actresses of Mary being porn stars.

Furthermore, isn't pregnancy out of wedlock a terrible thing to be gossiping about when you don't know what happened? If she was raped, you'd call her virtuous for not having an abortion, but your hatred of Catholicism blinds you to any possiblity save that she's "another wicked Catholic who's going to hell."

Finally, how on earth does the fact that actors and actresses sometimes live immoral lives mean that the Church is evil? I wasn't aware that this movie was objectively Catholic in nature, nor was I aware that this actress was Catholic, nor was the Blessed Virgin in the Passion played by a Catholic (she was Jewish), nor does God say that members of the Church will be without sin. Budge, you have jumped to unfounded opinions again. So what is your answer?

Sadly, I'll have to remain in the Church and pretend, because the Jesuits told me they would kill me if I left. They've got my name on a computer.
