cappie
On Saturday, November 11, at 12:00 pm, at the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, DC, a historic event will take place for our country: the consecration of the United States to the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary. Presiding at the Mass will be Papal Nuncio, His Excellency, Archbishop Pietro Sambi, in the company of American bishops as well as the signatures of the numerous bishops who have signed the consecration form that will re-consecrate our country to the Immaculate Conception, the U.S. National Patroness. For those who cannot be physically present, are invited to be spiritually united by joining in the Rosary between 11:15 am and 12:00 pm Eastern Time, and also included below the consecration form to be used. Prayer for Renewal of Consecration To Our Patroness of the United States of America The Immaculate Conception Most Holy Trinity: Our Father in Heaven, who chose Mary as the fairest of your daughters; Holy Spirit, who chose Mary as Your spouse; God the Son, who chose Mary as Your Mother; in union with Mary, we adore your majesty and acknowledge Your supreme, eternal dominion and authority. Most Holy Trinity, we put the United States of America into the hands of Mary Immaculate in order that she may present the country to you. Through her we wish to thank you for the great resources of this land and for the freedom, which has been its heritage. Through the intercession of Mary, have mercy on the Catholic Church in America. Grant us peace. Have mercy on our president and on all the officers of our government. Grant us a fruitful economy born of justice and charity. Have mercy on capital and industry and labor. Protect the family life of the nation. Guard the precious gift of many religious vocations. Through the intercession of our Mother, have mercy on the sick, the poor, the tempted, sinners—on all who are in need. Mary, Immaculate Virgin, Our Mother, Patroness of our land, we praise you and honor you and give our country and ourselves to your Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart. O’ Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary pierced by the sword of sorrow prophesized by Simeon save us from degeneration, disaster and war. Protect us from all harm. O’ Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary, you who bore the sufferings of your Son in the depths of your heart be our Advocate. Pray for us, that acting always according to your will and the Will of your Divine Son, we may live and die pleasing to God. Amen.
Aloysius
It's only a 3 hour drive. I think I shall go. Anyone know what parking's like for the National Shrine?

MRSannie
I heard when there is a consecration like this, miracles can happen. Our country is sorely in need of this. I will pray a Rosary today to join. Mary is an awesome mother!!!
Theoketos
Al, You should go and park near a metro station, and then take the metro system to the CUA campus. That would be WAAAAAY easier.

Moneybags
I pray that graces will pour from the Heart of Jesus on the USA, my beloved country now. The losses in the 2006 Elections were upsetting. I pray that the Partial Birth Abortion Ban will be upheld by the Supreme Court. May the grace of God do this! Aloysius
I didn't have a camera, but I did go. It was amazing. I am sooo tired lol... not a good idea to not sleep the night before you take a three hour trip to Washington D.C. I ended up napping for a few hours on the way back at a J.C. Penny parking lot in Maryland. Anyway, I don't really have words to describe it; it was a spectacular mass. On 11-11-06 at ~11:11 I was praying a Rosary in the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception I went and walked around the war memorials afterwards... the WWII memorial is amazing (first time I was there). Anyway, I got a sweet little medal with Mary's feet over a map of the US with the hearts of Jesus and Mary.
AlterDominicus
I think that is just amazing! I mean out of all the consecrations, it had to be Mary our most Holy and Awesome Mother!!! I mean I just got back from a retreat from the Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist.
Aloysius
haha 'out of all the consecrations'? Catholics consecrate just about everything they see as important to Mary. and consecrating it to the Immaculate Heart of Mary will bring peace and especially protection from nuclear war. the last time the bishops consecrated this country to the immaculate heart was 1959. I really think that preserved us from nuclear war with Russia the same way the consecration of Russia herself caused communism to fall. anyway, being in the presence of the papal nuncio is just about as good as being in the presence of the pope himself. the mass was great and spectacular... right up to the point at the end where the one priest got up to the microphone and declared it the most spectacular mass he had ever been at and everyone erupted into applause. that annoyed me haha oh well... people just have the ruin the moment sometimes.
